Ashteru: Your vote put me at one from lynch.
Unknown2006-05-10 23:06:18
Yes, which is typically the time for you to roleclaim...
I think the Spirits are willing us to cast out Shamarah, but I want to give him a chance before lynching him.

BLAH. I'm torn. In a game of this size there will be 2 or 3 scum at most if it is balanced well, or perhaps only a cult to start. If we lynch wrong and it goes to night, they get a kill, we are down to 8...
...oh wait no my maths in my head were way off. Writing that just made things clearer for me.
A vote for no lynch helps only the scum, Archer. A lynch, even if it is wrong, still reveals a little information. If we go to night without a lynch we will be in the same situation tomorrow as we are today.
There have been players posting after you who know enough about mafia to say what I've said, but they have not which I find very interesting, seeing as how I've known them to point it out before.

I seriously hope you don't actually expect me to roleclaim because of a random bandwagon. In fact, FoS: Requiem for that.
Does anyone actually have a reason for voting me other than randomness?
Unknown2006-05-10 23:54:30
Well you're looking like an alright bandwagon to me. You're experienced, but you didn't pull up archer for calling a no lynch/ostracize. Why?
I'll unvote for now, because I don't see the need to be too hasty and someone is, I'm sure, silly enough to put on the final vote before we're ready (really Dag, why the deadline so soon?), but that does not mean I won't put the vote back on.
Regardless of whether it is first round or not, you're close to being cast out. A decent roleclaim could save you, refusing to make one could condemn you.

I asked him why he was doing a no-lynch. I figured he was just a newbie.
tsaephai2006-05-11 00:19:39
I take it you are not going to roleclaim then? You've already made 5 posts after you knew that you were in danger from dying, and yet didn't give any reason why we shouldn't get rid of you. Well, being that you're not longer at risk of death, I'm going to vote for you.
UNVOTE
VOTE: SHAMARAH
Perhaps we should give him two more posts, and if by two more posts he doesn't roleclaim then we get rid of him? What do you all say?

That you did . Still, if you figured he was a newbie you should have explained the idea behind lynching on day one.
Actually, I just had a thought.
Vote: reqiuem dot exe. Why on earth did you say 'ick, a day start' in your very first post. Day starts are good for the innocents.

Yeah, I realised that. That is the main reason I unvoted.
Oh, and I -am- a newbie.
Shamarah2006-05-11 00:37:51
Making me roleclaim is a very very bad idea for the town.
Trust me on this one.

Unknown2006-05-11 00:39:41
Shamarah, saying something like that is as good as painting a target on your back anyway .
Shamarah2006-05-11 00:41:48
Whatever the case is, I am not the play for today.
I mean, I'll roleclaim if someone is actually going to put on the lynching vote, but as I said, it's very bad for the town.

Xenthos2006-05-11 00:44:39
Well... why don't you go along as if someone was about to do the final vote, because your other defence isn't exactly going very well for you.
Unknown2006-05-11 00:45:54
Eh I want to hear an excuse from reqiuem before I do anything else, and I'd suggest others wait for that excuse to.
Or is it just me that finds it wierd for someone to complain about a day start?

What else am I supposed to say to a random bandwagon? I'd still like to hear someone voting for me give some coherent reason that they're doing so.
In particular, I'd like to hear from Torak, who put an apparently random vote on me at the beginning of the game and hasn't posted since, but still has his vote on me (bandwagoning, lurking, or just forgetfulness?)
Daganev, can we get a prod on Torak?

Someone's in a good mood today .
Why is it normal then for someone to complain about a day start? A day start means there has not been a kill yet.
Unknown2006-05-11 01:05:37
I used to play Mafia a lot on a different forum, and I've always found night starts to be more useful because we have something to go on based on who had died. Of course, the games were structured slightly differently and everyone (the real people) was very closely related so we had reason to suspect certain people based on who had died. It could just be the remnant of that, but I've always prefered night starts, even when it doesn't strictly make logical sense.
Unvote: Xenthos
He didn't say anything interesting. And Shamarah, I'm more than willing to kill you off. So just assume that you really are about to die. I'm fairly suspect already because for whatever reason people like to try to kill me off at the beginning of games...*sigh* It must be jealousy of my devout purity.

Hold on, now. By saying that you're not the only one, I was agreeing with you. A day start gives a way for us to get some hold on who is suspicious, while starting during the night gives little but an early edge to those who would harm us.
Unknown2006-05-11 01:12:17
That...makes no sense to me reqiuem . From the mafia games I have played you learn very little based on who died. If the game has a storyline, you get a character that might fit with a 'team', but that doesn't tell you much about who would have killed them unless you can get some roleclaims happening. Even then it's doubtful that a roleclaim on the first day is going to be truthful, in my opinion.
Shamarah, can we get a role name claim please? We don't need to know what you can and cannot do, but who are you? As people have said, we're more than willing to kill you off. SOMEONE has to die.

GAH it happened again. That is the third post today I've not read correctly and then posted a silly response to. My apologies . I need another coffee.
