I think the Spirits are willing us to cast out Shamarah, but I want to give him a chance before lynching him.

BLAH. I'm torn. In a game of this size there will be 2 or 3 scum at most if it is balanced well, or perhaps only a cult to start. If we lynch wrong and it goes to night, they get a kill, we are down to 8...

A vote for no lynch helps only the scum, Archer. A lynch, even if it is wrong, still reveals a little information. If we go to night without a lynch we will be in the same situation tomorrow as we are today.

There have been players posting after you who know enough about mafia to say what I've said, but they have not which I find very interesting, seeing as how I've known them to point it out before.

I seriously hope you don't actually expect me to roleclaim because of a random bandwagon. In fact, FoS: Requiem for that.

Well you're looking like an alright bandwagon to me. You're experienced, but you didn't pull up archer for calling a no lynch/ostracize. Why?

I'll unvote for now, because I don't see the need to be too hasty and someone is, I'm sure, silly enough to put on the final vote before we're ready (really Dag, why the deadline so soon?), but that does not mean I won't put the vote back on.

Regardless of whether it is first round or not, you're close to being cast out. A decent roleclaim could save you, refusing to make one could condemn you.

In particular, I'd like to hear from Torak, who put an apparently random vote on me at the beginning of the game and hasn't posted since, but still has his vote on me (bandwagoning, lurking, or just forgetfulness?)

Why is it normal then for someone to complain about a day start? A day start means there has not been a kill yet.

I used to play Mafia a lot on a different forum, and I've always found night starts to be more useful because we have something to go on based on who had died. Of course, the games were structured slightly differently and everyone (the real people) was very closely related so we had reason to suspect certain people based on who had died. It could just be the remnant of that, but I've always prefered night starts, even when it doesn't strictly make logical sense.

I'm fairly suspect already because for whatever reason people like to try to kill me off at the beginning of games...*sigh* It must be jealousy of my devout purity.

Hold on, now. By saying that you're not the only one, I was agreeing with you. A day start gives a way for us to get some hold on who is suspicious, while starting during the night gives little but an early edge to those who would harm us.

That...makes no sense to me reqiuem . From the mafia games I have played you learn very little based on who died. If the game has a storyline, you get a character that might fit with a 'team', but that doesn't tell you much about who would have killed them unless you can get some roleclaims happening. Even then it's doubtful that a roleclaim on the first day is going to be truthful, in my opinion.

Shamarah, can we get a role name claim please? We don't need to know what you can and cannot do, but who are you? As people have said, we're more than willing to kill you off. SOMEONE has to die.
