No.

That's essentially Tekura from Achaea/Aetolia and I think it's called Taekat or something like that in Imperian. Generally speaking (read: in practically every case) Lusternia avoids using skillsets. Estarra mentioned this a few different times.
On the other hand, usually when throwing out a new skillset suggestion people make up skills that go with it to give people an idea of what they're talking about. It's primarily an excersise in creativity, because IRE doesn't use entire skillsets suggested by players (what I hear from word of mouth) but it can be fun to do. Just don't be disappointed when nothing comes from it.

HOwever, the denizens of Dairuchi are expert martial artists and will often punch you in the face
Richter2006-05-05 03:21:03
Bob has Tekura.
Other than that, no, we don't want to be a copy of the other games.

I agree with richter, what a horrible and poorly thought out idea.
Stop suggesting things for combat, clearly you haven't the foggiest idea what you're on about.

Hell, if you're going to suggest a skill or set of skills, here's the do's and don't's.
Do:
Put some thought into it.
Make it longer than two sentences.
Learn about combat.
Use the skillset format.
Put some thought into it.
Don't:
Suggest an entire new skillset based on two sentences.
It's analogy time. I like analogies, and they irritate people, so I like them more. The initial post in this thread would be like if Estarra and Roark proposed Lusternia to Matt on a half sheet of used toilet paper. It would be short and full of crap.

I'm sure Martial Arts are coming eventually...
Unknown2006-05-06 03:33:31
Probably not, it doesn't seem like we're going to get a monkish type class really, i mean, Gaudiguch may or may not get a monk them only class, but i still doubt that. The Tosha monks use some of the moves from Tekura.
Unknown2006-05-06 03:59:32
No, it cannot be considered.
Hazar2006-05-07 00:27:39
No, it will not be considered. It doesn't fit Lusternia's theme at all.
This is not up for discussion.

Unknown2006-05-07 00:35:34
Well.. except for the fact that the Tosha Monks use martial arts.
It doesn't fit any of the orgs themes, but it could be an unaligned guild, like the Jesters in Achaea. Not that I want to see it, but it could have a place. Maybe even in Serenwilde, with their spirit worship, and the fact that, if you've ever gone into the Tosha Pits, they're all about spirits.

Actually, Fallen, the way the Archetype system works, unaligned guilds with their own class are unfeasable.
Unknown2006-05-07 03:16:26
No they aren't.
Moondancers were the only Wiccan Archetype for quite a long time. Same with Hartstone and Druids.
So having guilds with their own class are not unfeasible. As for unaligned, its not completely impossible. There's a chance they might have a skill that generates power through meditation, for example.
Or, like I said, they could possibly be a Seren guild.

A) Wiccans were alligned.
You know why Visaeris went to Glomdoring? Because it was set up to have a commune.
Wiccans happened to be the only one of that archetype for the moment, but the game was set up to have another two communes (just like we are set up for two more cities).
If we take a look at the overall archetype structure, we have Commune Summoner (Wiccan), City Summoner (Guardian), Commune Demesne-User(Druid), City Demesne user(Mage), and Warriors. Theoretically, either of the warriors could be changed into martial artists, but really? Do monks fit into a war-like commune? Or a commune that puts little value on free thought? And would the cities give up the histories of their worrier guilds for a random monk guild?

All the groups are set to have another archetype according to Estarra.
And also, you obviously don't know White Hart's teachings. They are very monkish.
Unknown2006-05-07 04:14:42
Every other IRE game has monks, and besides that, they are an overused and trite class throughout gaming in general. I couldn't see the staff adding a martial arts archetype unless they first heavily modified it, both in terms of hardcoded skills and mechanics, and in terms of their RP and backstory, into something almost unrecognizable from your run-of-the-mill monk.
