What if artisans could make stages or altars that allow people to ACT or RITUAL to do room emotes? And lecterns that let whomever is standing behind them silence the room?
Unknown2006-05-08 00:54:04
Ooh, that's actually a really good idea!

YES.

It wouldn't be abuseable, unless some idiot decided to raid the theatre. Also, have them be assigned to orgs (or individuals in a manse) and have perms settable to cut down on misuse.
Verithrax2006-05-08 02:28:20
Lecterns could be made either general, or linked to a particular person, like thrones.

RANTYRANTYRANTYRANTYRANT!
I just did this!!!

This here's a link to it.

They wouldn't even allow this as an explicitly divine-vetted thing. Can't see why they'd allow it as a solely player-policed thing.
Mirk2006-05-08 23:01:15
well, there are some key differences.
1- Not portable
and well, that's all I can really think of...
Verithrax2006-05-08 23:44:26
Er, I don't see the divine veto in that thread...?
Gwylifar2006-05-09 13:58:10
The "not portable" thing was indeed in that thread, if you look a little more closely. The divine refusal isn't in that thread. (Though you could probably infer it as very likely if you tried.)
Mirk2006-05-09 20:26:41
but then again, it died when it went off-topic and talking about using dreamweavers instead...
It only stopped due to lack of interest.
Hazar2006-05-09 22:16:04
This is an awesome idea on two counts.

1) It makes rituals a lot nicer. Always good.

2) It gives Artisans a way to make money. biggrin.gif
Eyod2006-05-10 05:30:10
I'd be all for this, especially since a few serenwilders seem to want a theatre.
Tsuki2006-05-10 10:36:23
I doubt it's a high priority, but something like this could be nice. Though it would be best to either have a variety of basic patterns or a more neutral, all-purpose one without as many RL connotations for the term. For the latter, I'm partial to "dais." It would just break the mood a bit to ... climb on a stage to conduct a wedding, stand at a lectern or podium to be part of a ritual with several participants all equally involved, etc.
Eyod2006-05-10 12:32:34
Dais works very well, it's a very neutral setting. Could be used for lots of things. Of course it's just a matter of time before Artisans make new designs.

No, it was already dead before that. We're not talking about the thread (well, I'm not), we're talking about the idea. Why is this so hard to believe?
Shiri2006-05-10 13:09:17
I don't think the Divine not responding to/not implementing an idea from a thread is entirely comparable to their having vetoed it. It's not like a lot of stuff from this forum gets put into the game. Very very little is, and not every idea here is stupid either so that's not it.

We're not talking about the thread

...oh, nevermind. rolleyes.gif
Eyod2006-05-10 13:13:33
Because the free emoting item/skill/power is resugested every few months and thus isn't dead till everyone forgets about. Anyway in the list of ideas for this, this is the most viable as it make use of an already existing system (artisanry) rather then having the divine build theatres/stages/circuses everywhere.

I took that to mean that the veto you were referring to was unspoken as opposed to their having said "no, we're not having this, this is why" on the thread. If they'd told/indicated to you somewhere else that it wasn't something they were going to do, then eh.
