Perhaps it's just that I live in smaller areas so the big chains don't carry a lot of them. *shrug* I just know that I have to buy my psp movies online for the most part.
And yes, console prices are getting quite insane in comparision to computer prices.

Odd, every comercial I hear on TV for a new DVD also mentions PSP.
Also, I find it ironic that computers cost less than Consoles now.
Yeah.. "base" computers. If you're not gaming on your PC and don't want a nice amount of memory on it then I'd totally agree with you.
Edit: Bleh! Bastion beat me so my post didn't glue itself together.

Well, the adult entertainment industry is gunning for Blu-ray, and we know how many people... well, let me stop there.
Sweet! I mean... *cough*

No clue how that's going to affect the console wars though.
Well, the most expensive thing in the PS3 is the blu-ray player. Now, as a consumer who already owns multiple consoles, computers, and dvd players, I'm going to think to myself, "Well, the price of the PS3 is freaking crippling, BUT, if I buy one, not only will have what will probably be a pretty good gaming system, I'll also be able to simultaneously update the quality of my video watching as well!" However, if I'm a consumer who doesn't know much about blu-ray, or has heard that it might die off in leu of HDDVD, OR I wait awhile and Sony doesn't crank up distro. of movies in that format AND prices them competively with HDDVD's, then I might not want to buy a $600 system just for gaming.
Don't get me wrong, PS3's, at least initally, are going to sell like there's no tomorrow. Sony still has a lot of clout and a very big fan base. But how they handle the movie stuff is what's going to determine the format winner. And as for that betamax to vhs comparison - yes, there can be only one.

However, Computers upgrade with gameing quality.
A base computer now can play the best games from 2001. Not many good games have come out since then. If you want the "best" in gameing, then thats roughly $300 to get the next gen machine.
It use to be, that Consoles cost less than the next gen Graphics card, now they don't. Thats all. And computers do a lot more than just play games and watch movies.

Well, in regards to PSP movies, I see UMD's being sold everywhere, and I see them in ads too. I'd say they're doing pretty good right now.

My brother has an amazing boss who gave him xbox360 as part of his christmas present...least to say I play it often. It is REALLY AMAZING. And he def doesn't have an HDTV. But it's still amazing, I would recommend it. Also, again playstation3 god knows when it's coming out and how much it will be. Then again, if you have a lot of money, that doesn't exactly matter.

Worldwide launch is schedule for November (But there's a possibility for delay) and the 20GB hard drive version is going to be $499 USD, but it doesn't support HDMI (The little HDTV port) nor does it have a memory stick port, but, like you said, it'll still look nice without it. The $599 USD version has a 60GB hard drive and comes HD-ready with the HDMI port plus memory stick port, and WiFi connection. The 60GB version also has a SD media port and a compact flash port (Weiiiiiird...).
You can use the harddrive this time around to save your games, but I think Sony is making a mistake not having their machine upgradeable.
Edit: The 60GB version will also have a chrome-colored lining or something on the case, while the 20GB won't.

Guess KidHendrix and I are God then, because we both know when it's coming out and how much it will be (and have posted it either earlier in this thread or elsewhere )!
While I don't think an actual release date has been set, we're looking at fourth quarter for the Wii and PS3.
Alaskar2006-05-17 00:58:26
If I got a Wii, I'd be tempted to fight with the controlers
Anywho, I'll probably get the Xbox360, because I'm not speding $5-600 on a gaming system. $400 for the Xbox360 is pushing it, but $500 is waaaay too much. Well, I'll probably get the Xbox360. Probably. Most likely. Maybe.
I'll get it before I find something wrong with it!

I think things work because they have smoke in them, because when the smoke came out of my Ps2, it didn't work so well anymore....

I'll stick to my computer for a while more yet. I can wait a few months after the PS3 comes out when they drop the price to something a bit more reasonable.

Reminds me of a card in the Steve Jackson game, Hacker.
Taiwanese Modem
You thought you got a good deal... but last night it made a really diagnostic sort of noise, and all the magic smoke got out.
Lose your modem.
Play on a rival at any time.
