So my arrow keys are screwing up, and part of the left arrow key recently broke. I need to replace the keyboard in my laptop. I have a Dell XPS M170 laptop and here's what I found..

http://www.powerbrixx.com/index.php?main_p...products_id=569 is a place I found to buy replacement keyboards...

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/syst...d.htm#wp1122407 tells someone sort of how to do it.

Has anyone actually done this? Should I do it by myself, or just use my warranty? Any advice would be good. Thanks!

Its actually really really easy my daddy has the same lap top and his S key fell of, all you have to do open the screen and tilt is as far back as it goes, pop off the plastic bit at the top above the keyboard slide out the keyboad, remove the wire connecting it to the mother board. Then get the new keyboard plug the wire in and slide it in.

Its pretty easy the dell helpline people on the phone even said he should do it himself and told him how.

Althought phone up dell if you still have the warrenty and you will get the keyboard replacement for free sent to you, then you can just click it in yourself.

Sweet! I'm going to call them just to make sure I can do this without voiding my warranty.

Thank you!

You can definatly do it without voiding it, but if you call them and tell them they will first of all give the the keyboard for free and they will give you better instructions on how to do it.
