Yeah, it is. I'm an addict. I'm telling you, it works wonders. biggrin.gif
Selverad2006-05-21 03:36:32
Hm. Well how would a non-addicted Faeling Runeslinger be at hunting? Or should I try instead to advance him by Influence?
Hazar2006-05-21 03:58:05
Runes isn't really involved in hunting, it's PvP. Bashing would be decent, as would Influence.

1. Sparkleberries are not addictive (as far as technicallities go, but you can RP anything you wish)

2.Faeling tele-mages with forcefield are wonderful for PvE; so are mugwumps I -think-

3.Hexes and Runes have no PvE benefits, but are wonderful PvP.

4.If you are looking for a good PvE guild choose druid/mage because they get there better attack below trans, everyone else has to spend more lessons. Plus mages or druids are those hard hitters I think you are looking for. (a Mag geomancer seems to be the best way to get to demigod)

5.If you want to influence, go faeling, or go with something that can chant laetitia, or has big +cha buffs, or all three. Anisu is, or was wacko.gif a faeling celestine(she's guild hoped a bit), and from what I hear pretty much -only- influences now adays, or had in the past.. wacko.gif

Sparkleberry == irid moss, he was joking about being addicted.

Faelings are considered very weak at tanking (except faeling psionics who have the forcefield skill), so having sparkleberries to munch on on top of their nice sip is really useful.
ferlas2006-05-21 19:11:12
Faelings actually come out much tankier than a lot of races such as furrikin, merians etc the sip bonus counter acting the lower con.

If you die in one hit, you aren't tanky.
ferlas2006-05-21 22:09:47
Right if your a really low level merian furrikin mugwump or faeling your going to die to big hitters, still dosnt change the fact that faelings are tankyier than merians furrikin or mugwumps.
Unknown2006-05-21 23:02:00
I don't think we're talking about low levels here, just about everything dies to big hitters at low levels if they are hit hard enough. And you do not call the race with the lowest constitution tanky, regardless of sip bonuses. There're only so many sips you can take within a set amount of time.

Actually I need to agree with Ferlas on this Shorlen. Faelings get -very- tank with their lvl 2 sip bonus(or lvl 3 with alchmey, which I've seen a few of them take). Sure untill they get around lvl 70-80ish they are very un-tanky, but once they reach that threashhold they are pretty awesome as far as the normal mage/guardian goes.

Laysus tanks my staff better than most warriors do.
Unknown2006-05-22 00:34:43
I still vote for Tae'dae Serenguard/Druid as the best tank.

Drawdown/Nightkiss + robes >>> Field Plate (and still greater than full plate). Then add onto that increased resistance a level 3 sip (with the philosopher's stone), and yeah, you're doing pretty well.

I just don't know if I should bother with a PvP character.... I use Nexus, I'm terrible with systems, I don't know the rules of the world (in Achaea, PvP has been legalized to death.), and the way I play, it would be a long time before I reach level 80. Also, with my luck, I'd be sure to run afoul of a raiding party or two, and wind up dead several times over, setting me back by who knows how long...
I could try it. I'd probably like the roleplay of a specialized Faeling Glom Runeslinger. But a Faeling Telemage would be good, too... But wouldn't I have to be Magna to pull that off?

First, there are very few rules in Lusternian PK.

1) You can't move people into areas where they might be enemied.

Um.. wait.. isn't that about it? laugh.gif

Everything else is handled by the Avenger.

As for the raiding party, if they're raiding, then you'll be defending home turf. If you die on home turf, you automatically conglut, whether you have the skill or not. So you wouldn't have too much risk from that.

As for Psionics, both Geomancers and Aquamancers have that as an option.
Selverad2006-05-22 15:50:25
So how about a Magnagoran Faeling Geomancer? Or a Celestine Faeling Aquamancer? I'm not quite sure which would be better.... But are Faelings worth using unspecialized?
Unknown2006-05-22 16:07:30
Yep they are great unspecialized if you have the skills, and the skill to use them. It's rough at first but once you get use to it. it's not that bad at all.
Selverad2006-05-22 16:48:00
Ok, a Faeling Telemage of some sort. Now to decide on the city....

Geomage from Magnagora, or Aquamage from Celestine?

In theory, faeling should go over better in Celest, though I've been told that they're accepted in Magnagora too for some weird reason o_O

Make two, and then stick with the one with the better novice program, suiciding the other before he graduates ninja.gif
Selverad2006-05-22 17:16:21
I'm starting first with the Celestine, since I think Aquamancy is better than Geomancy as healing support, another thing I had as a preliminary requirement. All other skills being equal, I'd rather play a good character anyways. Thing is, my good characters tend to be a little rogue-ish. We'll se how that goes over in Celest.

EDIT: I now see what people mean when they say Celest doesn't take care of their novices. They're expected to train themself. Maybe I could, knowing the Portals, and the syntaxes and all, but not everyone can, and I know almost nothing about the required skills. Not to mention the fact that their scrolls are terribly scattered....
