why is it so vastly superior to Aeon?
I never quite managed to use it properly.

Aeon goes away on its own and has a pre-emptive defence, neither of those apply to Sap.
Narses2006-05-20 23:48:15
how long does aeon last?
Mirk2006-05-21 00:19:57
I think it depends, but I've heard 8 seconds or so, and aeon is stackable.
Xavius2006-05-21 00:30:21
I'll have to get a timer going on it, but I think aeon lasts something like 20 seconds.
Sap is superior primarily because of these lovely things called "saplocks." To cure aeon, you just sip a vial. Only anorexia, sleep, and stun prevent sipping. To cure sap, you use an enchantment. This means you need to be on-eq and not prone in any way (entangled, sprawled, paralyzed, stunned, etc.) So, what you do is wait for your opponent to end up prone, sap them, and then go to great lengths to keep them prone.

so, a hartstone dreamweaver could put someone to sleep, sap, and stagstomp(or whatever it's called), pretty much screwing someone over?

Or an ecologist can drop mactans and mountain smudges. Or a runist can alternate between ger/gyfu (paralysis/impatience) doubleslings and vines. It's one of those deals where the margin of error is very tiny.
Sylphas2006-05-26 15:12:39
Sap isn't that hard to stick. The problem is making it stick after they tumble away a few times, especially with smaller demesnes. It's much harder to stick without swarm and runes/motes, let alone if they get out of forest all together.

It's just a random bonecrusher. And that's supposed to be a helm.
Torak2006-05-26 19:01:02
Ha, quit acting like sap is hard to stick Xavius. Anyways, sap is superior because there is a ton of things that prevent curing along with constant passive effects to join them.

Sorry I actually got the impression that xavius was saying that sap was easy to stick torak.

He was replying to how easy a dreamweaver could stick sap and saying that all druid types had a decent and not to hard way to stick sap.

Mactans/blacklung/epil make it so they cant roll then, if you can sap then web before they cure the sap then you have won the fight assuming you don't screw up.
Sylphas2006-05-27 07:39:47
Or they could send a tell for help and get empressed out. Last time I sapped Murphy, he poofed on me.
And Hartstone have a much harder time with blacklung and chills. Blacktalon demesne has better offense.

Stagstomp, several stripes to make you faster. Aaand...if you envoyed that Darkseed costs a little less, then it's cool too. 'cause Darkseed has friggin potential.

So far, darkseed still costs 8 power...so it's still a potential.

I think what tripped Torak up was this part of Xavius' statement, "It's one of those deals where the margin of error is very tiny." Saying that does give the impression that he was saying a druid does not have much room to make a mistake (i.e. it is hard to do).
