That hail-and-respond is the most kickass thing about Glomdoring.

As soon as we can get all the new novices into the hang of using it, everything will be good.

Maybe the rest of you don't understand, but that call just gives an adrenaline rush. It's a 'we're all here, we're all in this together' thing. An affirmation of unity and purpose. It is, hands down, one of the most motivating things in Glomdoring.

Not for me it didn't. The call and response was nice - the call and response/response/response/response/response/response/response/response/response/response/response was silly.

I'm with Elryn on this one. It's a nice patriotic gesture, but why does that one get spammy, and regular hellos get largely ignored?

And, er...if it's not a rant, don't post it in idiots!

What's the point if its just a single response? If its just one response, then only one person gets to respond.

Its more equivilent of a crowd shouting. But you have to realize that that isn't possible on a MUD.

I tend to ignore the mass one since everyone else participates, and just try to do hello to the others who get ignored in this fashion, myself.

If that is the most kickass thing there... well maybe you all should come up with some more things.

Every nation has this, and it gets a bit silly when you are saying Hi and Bye to people every 20 minutes. ~_~ I tend to avoid it unless it's someone I've known for awhile, or someone who isn't getting any other responces, and then I just respond in tells most of the time.

Constant obligatory statements have never made me feel welcome, so I just try to avoid them when they crop up en-mass.

Umm, its not a hi and by thing...

Sometimes I just randomly shout it when I see something good happen, or if something bad is a bout to happen.

Only about the 4th or 5th time someone has posted this sort of thing.

Lemmings.

Meta-lemmings; they're following a trend of posting about people being lemmings.

You don't know how thrilling it is to get just about everyone in the commune responding to one phrase. One of the things I love about Glomdoring, too!

And for most people, it IS their hello. Just that instead of getting one or two "Hi"s back, you get a flood of responses, which just about makes my day.

But then, I'm easily amused.

That is sooooooooo cool about Glomdoring. I've changed my hi and bye to something more religious-light-ish to get at least half of that in Celest for the RP but no one seems to salute me anymore.

I actually love it too.

It's pretty quiet in Glomdoring most of the time (which I also love), so the occasional spamming with exclamations of nationalism does little more than make me smile. We're fanatics...what do you expect?
