You pretty much have to watch the movies as a parallel, but seperate universe. Otherwise it's just too final. In other words, the movies != X-men cannon.

I like that they're far enough off that I'm not expecting them to stick to canon anymore, so when something doesn't match up, it doesn't make the movie suck for me.

I'm pretty sure comics of today contradict comics from the 70s.

I mean, its not like they gave wolverine teleketic abilities, or made Jean grey able to walk through walls....
Though anyone who watches the movie should make sure they stay till AFTER the credits.
oh nevermind, I see what they did with Leech.. though after doing some reading it seems like the leech in the movie is nothing like the leech in the comics...
