In short, a no lynch on day one makes day two virtually the same day.
Well, you get the stuff that goes on during the night, which changes how you look at the first day chatter.
I'll remain no lynch - killing to innocents hurts much more than killing one innocent, and we greatly risk doing that if we lynch today.
Shamarah2006-06-02 00:59:01
No lynch = no information.
No information = bad.
Therefore, no lynch = bad.

Daganev2006-06-02 01:16:49
I am 98% certain that Ashteru is not innocent.

Quidge, why do you want two people dead rather than one?
Unknown2006-06-02 03:36:30
We get useful information from the day time death. Why do you want to withhold information from us?
Unknown2006-06-02 03:55:28
We do? What do we get?
Unknown2006-06-02 04:03:20
We find out their character name and role (assuming this is a role reveal game, I'm not sure yet), we get to analyse the persons interactions with everyone else during the day and then, combined with what happened during the night, we can form a better opinion about what is doing on.
Not killing during the day just means we have one less person tomorrow but we start from pretty much the same spot.

Basically it's a matter of % as well.
Lynching means that we have a % of killing a tainted being.
No lynch means 0.
And during the night tainted have a 100% probability of trying to kill a non tainted one as they know perfectly who are they.
So by no lynching we give them the initiative wich is bad bad

I just read the last two pages maybe three times, then I went back and started the thread from the beginning. This is what I'm seeing so far.
Daganev was really weird/scummy towards the beginning. He randomly attacked people for saying that it was unreasonable to be required to an arbitrary first day vote. He said lurking was a good thing. And then of course he said he was voting for Quidgyboo and me simply because we were talking.
After people called him on his behaviour he started backpeddling and has subsequently become fairly normal. The only thing is that he is currently claiming that he is 98% certain that Ashteru is scum with little to no justification that I have seen. The same thing applies to Hazar.
I still find him the most suspicious so far.
On the other hand, Tsaephai and then Iridiel are making really weird posts targetted at him and while I'm not entirely sure Iridiel is innocent, he doesn't seem overtly scummy. It sounds more like a cult almost with some stipulation that the leader has to make some attempt to influence someone publicly during the day to convert or something.
Anyway, Iridiel seems to think it's not him and while I don't trust Iridiel, at the moment I don't think he is scum, either.
I'll grant that Ashteru and Hazar seem a little odd, but it's primarily because they aren't talking much. They just kind of vote for random people. I understand they're in the midst of exams, but you can jot a quick note explaining why you are voting for someone.
Maybe everyone should re-examine and re-explain why they are voting for whomever they're currently voting for. Some of the votes are remnants from the first flurry of random accusations. Plus if we have people that don't say anything it will make it more obvious that they're lurking. It's always good to eliminate people that aren't participating, even if they aren't scum.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DOUBLE POST:
Oh yes. And it really isn't a good idea to vote No Lynch ever, really. Maybe in a few special circumstances that I can't think of, but normally there is no reason not lynch someone. Like Quidyboo said, at the very least you can look back at the interaction between people once you get the role.
And I don't know about everyone else, but I don't have a character name. Hopefully that makes it reveal-on-death. Fallen, mind clarifying?

Note:
I am substituting Tsaephai so we're one person and obviously I tend to agree with myself quite a bit. I am not trying to send messages to anybody (Maybe Tsae was, but didn't inform me when I substituted) and everything I said was trying to justify what he said about codes (basically, the setup is about taint spies so it's quite logical to be paranoid and don't talk to each other at night).
And I am a SHE
I am voting for Azael because Tsae was and so far nobody looks more scummy than him enough to make me change his vote. I already said it when I replaced.

I guess Tsae had a gutfeeling that you were good and that was the code about, otherwise I have no clue. The fact that nighttalk is forbidden when we can have traitors among us is no strange thing, and I do hope all of you are careful with that. Even an old member of your guild or Order can be a traitor, as maybe the magics of the Taint are impersonating them.
Hope I got it allright and I am not being extra paranoid but that's what I got from the setting.
I understand that you're the same character, but you're not the same person. That's the post I was refering to, and it just seemed like you were trying to convey some hidden message about old Order members or something. Since you are a different person using what I presued to be the same method, I thought it might be related to your role.
Anyway, I specifically said that I was pretty sure that you weren't scum.
I am sorry about the gender thing though. I have a really hard time guessing who is what (especially since on these forums the odds are higher than normal of not being either a he or a she...) and grammatically "he" is our form of a gender neutral pronoun. I should be able to remember at least until the end of the game though.
Oh, and I want Xenthos to say something. He's funny.

I'm glad you find me amusing! (I have the feeling that wasn't the something you wanted to hear. )
That, and I'm wondering if Azael is truly this new to Mafia games. As near as I can tell, Daganev is just being Daganev... which, obviously, doesn't say whether he is scum or not-- it just doesn't make me want to immediately leap on him at the moment. We have no deadline yet, so I'm not in any hurry for an actual vote (especially considering that the conversation we can pursue for the day is not yet exhausted).
Unknown2006-06-02 17:37:13
I'll clarify that no characters have names, and that yes, in any character's particular deathscene, there will be a revelation as to what they were.
Daganev2006-06-02 18:30:56
I am going to assume that everything people have said thus far is true.
Given that, there is no doubt in my mind that Ashteru is a traitor and should be lynched.
I have a strong suspicion that if he is not lynched today it will give the defenders a harder time for the rest of the game.
