From an RP perspective, Elfen and Faeling should be able to specialize in both Communes. There should be the same amount of the population in both communes afterall. But it's not true though, we end up with tons of Faelings in Glomdoring with very few Elfen, and tons of Elfen in Serenwilde with very few Faelings simply due to the specializations.

Except that, for some reason, we have a number of Elfen despite that fact.

Unspecialized elfen aren't horrible. I don't think I'd ever pick them for serious PvP, but they're fairly well rounded if you have moral opposition to furrikin. Unspecialized faeling, however, are a barely passable runic druid/tanky telekinetic niche.

Actually they can make good guardians with tarot.
