Elixir Vitae in Deathsight

Wouldn't it be useful if people who die with Vitae either don't show up on deathsight, or show up with a message? When I first got the skill, I was kind of stumped for a moment as to why people where dying twice to the same guy in exactly the same place with the deaths within 10 seconds of eachother. And total newbs who don't now what Vitae is will be clueless about it. We could do the same thing for Lich, I suppose.

But now you know. Issue solved!

It was kind of annoying to gather for a resurgem only to realize they vitae'd instead of actually dying... Even more annoying if they have a gem of cloaking.

Yes! Certainly will help me with raids that go wrong or numbness-suicide runs.
Shamarah2006-05-31 22:46:17
Nah, keep vitae deaths on deathsight, but add a little blurb to the end so it says "Shamarah has been slain by blah blah blah but was reborn through the elixir vitae".
Richter2006-05-31 22:57:22
It's called deathsight, not Shamarah-was-reborn-sight. tongue.gif

... It already shows if you die from resensitizing. dry.gif

I think she's talking about the fact that she could raid with vitae and not be noticed, or use Numbness and get away with dying once because it wouldn't show when she resensitized because of Vitae.

Yeah, Soll's got my point. Except that I am a guy RL, and would like to be referred to as one.

oops.gif Sorry. I know you're a guy, just had Aerenna on my mind. smile.gif

I like that idea, but what about the nature of the skill? You see who's died and where/to whom. We don't see who comes back to life, only those who die. Therefore, if they come back to life through vitae it's something we shouldn't be able to sense, no?

Think of Vitae as a safety net. It catches you as you die, and throws you back into a new body. You sense a dip in to death, quickly pulled back, and from that you can tell that they came alive again. It's like somebody stickingt their arm unto a pool of water, and bringing it out again. You see some medium ripples. But if someone jumps in, there are much bigger ripples in the pool. Turning on deathsight/sense is like watching the surface of the water for those ripples.

Whaddya think?
Soll2006-06-06 19:55:53
That's how I've always thought of deathsight: ripples on a pond. smile.gif

Now I'm paranoid. I just watched a program about psychics and then it turns out I read Soll's mind and we are talking about an essentially psychic ability anyway and I watched teh psychic program without knowing it was gonna be about psychics and it was still relevant later on and *mental meltdown*

Last time my brain melted, I started quoting star wars as "A long time away in a galaxy far, far ago."

Cha. Sounds good.
Tervic2006-06-07 16:58:54
Maybe there should be a skill, Lifesight, that lets you see when someone is ressurected, be it *cough* ressurection, lich, resurgem, whatever... I mean, you're entwined with the threads of creation by using deathsense, so why not have a lifesense?

It could be justified as watching thems ripples a little more closely tongue.gif
Unknown2006-06-07 18:17:02
Ytraelux's idea is an extremely well-worded cop-out in order to make it sound good to exploit the theoretical possibilities to overpower an already extremely useful ability.

And I have no problem with that. tongue.gif
Granted that the city generally goes into a search-and-rescue mode whenever

(Celest) Mitch says: "Bob down!"

is heard, then grumbles slightly as the person just answers with

(Celest) Bob says: I'm up. Vitae.
but that's really not a big enough problem to change deathsight, I think.
ferlas2006-06-07 18:32:16
That dosnt seem like a problem at all to me, oh someones dead lets res them oh they are not dead no problem lets carry no who cares.
