Work with me, guys!
Assume, for the sake of argument, that the guards and totems will be removed.
Now, what could be tweaked to make everyone somewhat mollified?
...
Link Nil to Celestia via an archway that doesn't take any balance to go through. Give a way to use the Ravenwood and Moonhart to get to Astral. Redo the ENTIRE FAETHORN QUEST because it will never ever be done again. Um. This is just a fraction of what would need to be done, by the way.

If the guards and totems will definitely be removed, a suggestion similar to Ferlas' would be the next best--fae announce over Nightspirit when given honeycakes and take several seconds before they follow, and the archways dump people straight onto the nexus with a 4-second eq loss.

Many posts! Deadly slow forums. Grr.

Thanks for the reasonable response, Xavius. Those things are doable.

What needs to be done?
Disable the Faethorn quest entirely and make fae respawns in each area constant. Otherwise it will never be completed.
Continents would be hell. It's bad enough with the archways, not even being able to SEE what you're walking into will be -awful-. It also makes faethorn absolutely neutral, the cities have as easy a time getting there as the communes do.
Start focusing on the RP you're giving to each commune. Serenwilde has been screwed over recently, if you're bringing endless conflict to Faethorn and making it org-neutral at least make them unnatural enough for us to shrug and not care about defending.

And they're not reasonable.

I agree with the honeycake limits - the following time could be like the beggars in Magnagora or Furrikin farmers, as the drug slowly takes hold. Dumping straight onto the nexus makes sense too - can be avoided with a cubix or aetherdock, just like the cosmic planes, and prevents the griefing that Fallen is so scared of.

Make fae follow, instead of jumping into your arms
Completely seperate the continetns so nobody knows who is where untill they go there, or scry.

There are no cubix exits or docks into either Etherserenwilde or Etherglomdoring.

I like the idea of Archways dumping straight onto the nexus too.

If you want Ethereal to be the same as Cosmic, then MAKE COSMIC THE SAME AS ETHEREAL. Link Nil and Celestia, give Communes a link directly to Astral, etc. etc. You can't go halfway.

Thanks for the discussion, everyone!
I think we've pretty much run the course.
