I look a rankings xp, and what do I see? Half of the people are not Magnagoran, and half of Magnagorans are geomancers (no lichdom). Not much of a point.
There are a lot of factors. Another example is the contrast been the two roleplay specialised races. Master Viscanti are far more versatile and far tougher than Imperian Merians, who I consider to be quite a poor all-round race. Imperian Merians wouldn't last a minute in the Catacombs.

Please don't use the word 'objective' again in this thread.

A merian with forcefield would plow through the catacombs...but a Viscanti wouldn't.

Well I don't know much about bashing, I'll admit to that. It's just what I've observed to be the case. In sum, I see no reason for this change. No dire, pressing reason. I just see bias.

Secondly, you can't lich and vitae because it's impossible. Doesn't work.
Oddly enough, you're wrong.

It's been a rather common tactic recently, and it's why lich wasn't removed from this list... the envoys as a whole felt that if the two could be stacked, then lich also did not need to be non-strippable.

Used to at the beginning, but apparently it's working for a long time now.

Instead, inquisition was changed so that a death via inquisition affects everyone--Aquamancers, Serens, Gloms, and Mags--in the exact same way that a death from any of those guilds affects their targets--they vitae and gain suspect. Inquisition is still the best way to cause harm to a Magnagoran. The rest of us have to deal with the no-xp loss death of lich. Inquisition is still the only feasible way to cause harm to a trans ecologist. Inquisition is still a skill that strips all battle-relevant defs and delivers a long stun.
This quote stood out to me. It's true what Xavius is saying, this change doesn't affect just Magnagorans, it affects every single archetype but people with Sacraments. Don't use the rationale that it'll make it easier for Mags to escape praying, you can still strip Lichseed and Transmigrate something that no other archetypes can do.

This is utterly BS. Lichdom was good, being able to chain both of them together is even more ridiculous. They should have to choose one or the other, not both. Why this wasn't addressed is beyond me.

Why? This wouldn't even have really come up if (certain people) hadn't locked down various folk and then called for (certain sacrements users) to teleport over and inquisition for the SOLE reason of stripping vitae. There is NO OTHER REASON for this than to force praying and skip the whole Avenger-on-Vitae step, and I'd say that's more something that should be making you "lose faith". But you can now rest easy, because it has been fixed!

Well, if it was addressed, Lich would have likely been placed on the "do not strip" list as well. The main reason it WASN'T was because the two can stack, and it makes sense (to me, at least) that Inq should kill lich.

No no, it was the vitae + lich cocktail which provoked that comment. I can at least see the rationale behind the inquisition downgrade.. I'm not a complete idiot.
Shamarah2006-06-04 19:51:49
Yeah, vitae/lich stacking is pretty retarted. I made a thread about it a while back but I'm too lazy to find it.
Unknown2006-06-04 20:01:46
Well, do transmigration and vitae stack?
Unknown2006-06-04 20:05:00
If it stacks with lich, it should stack with transmigration.
(Or preferably neither)

Since transmigrate took you out of danger anyways, I doubt it was ever really attempted... now that vitae isn't stripped, it might be tried. We'll probably find out sometime in the near future.
Unknown2006-06-04 20:11:35
You still managed to get through my vitae pretty easily when you and your army ambushed me, undeffed, in Deepnight. Celestines are still extremely powerful, vitae stripping or not.
Unknown2006-06-04 20:28:14
The killing of those who don't/can't fight is hardly relevant to this thread.
