At start my replay to the topic itself: roflmao.gif roflmao.gif roflmao.gif

A downgrade??

Where?

The change that you cant strip vitae now? Wow yea thats really downgrade now inquisition is really useless, why would anyone would like to use it?? Ahh right, to strip someone defenses stun him and then kill him.
And i said 'kill him' not make him pray, make person behind character to suffer that he dare to mess with me. Cose i have PWN UBER SKILLZ so i will maek him suffer!! pureevil.gif

No. Iquisition is not 'praying maker skill' !!!

I'm going to approach this from a purely objective, balanced angle. Please judge my posts by their content, and you'll see that I am being neutral here.

Why was inquisition downgraded so that it no longer removes vitae?

For this change:

- Inquisition is too strong. It should be specialised to make liches have to pray, but there's no reason why it should strip vitae, this is too far.

- It is making too many people have to pray, which is fun for no one.

- Whether vitae hits or not is an admin issue, not one for players to decide, because it involves boycotting suspect, experience etc.

Against this change:

- Necromancy and Sacraments are a perfectly balanced set of opposite skills. This change was made with no corresponding downgrade to Necromancy; and no corresponding upgrade elsewhere in Sacraments; this is not balanced.
That change wasnt such downgrade, i know that making ablution and lustration usefull would be nice but i sitll have hope that its not end of envoy changes.

- The decision was made with no Sacraments Envoys at the summit, so it was a biased summit.
I wasnt there, but i messaged Estarra herself about making Inquisition not to stip Vitae.

- Neither of the Sacraments Envoys are fighters, or use inquisition.
Yea right im not top fighter as Geb, Amaru, Narsrim and other but you cant say that im not fighter or use Inquisiton.

- Inquisition is now not worth its 13 power tag and huge mana cost.
Its 12 power, not 13.

- This will make Magnagorans start to use vitae instead of Lich, which is turning players from roleplay specific abilities to general abilities; IE bad.

- It will make the game more dull, as Sacraments users now lose their most potent weapon. People will once again die and then walk off safe, smiling at their killer and nursing a tiny experience loss. It will therefore discourage PK.

- Experience loss has already been reduced so much that it barely matters. Hardly anyone ever has to pray anyway. This change will reduce it even further. The main effect this will have is a psychological one; people can get inquisitioned, die, and walk away.

- Not being able to make their enemies pray will increase the experience disadvantage Celest has against its enemies. This essentially consists of (1) Lich meaning no experience loss for Magnagoran bashers, (2) The catacombs, a Magnagoran bashing ground. Etc. (Evidence: half of the top 20 for experience are Magnagoran, only 1 is Celestian).
Celest have two best rezzing skills. Ressurect and Sacrifice, there is no need to say that Celest haev disadvantage in XP field. And about all that posts saying that Magngarons have highest levels.
Guess what??
They bashed that by houdreds of hours of boring bashing.
Want to get higher level? Bash more!! Stop complain about it.

- Finally, it just does not make sense. Why make it strip lich and transmigration, two unrelated abilities, but not vitae, which is supposedly the least specialised of the death avoidance abilities? There is no roleplay or balance basis. Inquisition was originally an instakill. Then it was downgraded to this. Now even further. Necromancy has only been upgraded.

I can only conclude that the change is a result of vested interest in the conference.

What do you all think? Am I missing something?

In general i like that change.

And who you are in game. You sound like Rafael or Thoros.
And meh i really should change city, Celest is starting to suck. People, wake up there.

I can't even interpret that barely literate mess of a post.

By all means go to Magnagora. Celest's response would be a resounding cheer.

Now, I don't see why you attack someone because his posts aren't as grammatically correct and correct spelt like from someone with english mothertongue. That doesn't mean that you should just dismiss his arguments with a wave.

Because as far as I'm concerned, and most of Celest is concerned, he abused his position as Envoy to the extreme. He manoeuvred a massive skill downgrade for the city's most prominent skillset, and apparently intended to leave and join the opposite city anyway. That amounts to an OOC betrayal, so I reserve the right to be OOC quite firm and dismissive of his excuses.

His post makes sense to me, Am. Put a little more effort into it. happy.gif

It's not a massive downgrade, and *I* was the one who mentioned it at the summit. If you want to give OOC hate, you're welcome to fume at me. He wasn't there, his message may have been taken into consideration, but I was the one who raised the point.

No taking that IC, though.

I'm of the opinion that the change would not have been made without the support of an Envoy who speaks on behalf of the skillset.

And yet it was needed, nor is it a massive downgrade... it's just not a griefing skill any more (see: Dilute).

Meh. I just think that Lusternia is constantly being softened down. Aww, poor players having to lose experience. Give them a cuddle and some chocolate.

When Lusternia was conceived, it was a damned dangerous game environment. This made it exciting. There's a point where catering to the wants of players becomes negative. I hope we aren't nearing that point.

I really don't think that this is that line, Amaru.

Except no, not really.

Ekard is teh awesome, even with the strange english tongue.gif

I don't think it is the line, but you can't dispute that we are seeing things head in that direction.

Firstly, raiding made impossible by guard upgrades and new powers.

Then exp loss for PK reduced.

Then conglutinate expanded to villages in play.

Abilities upgraded and introduced to prevent PK loss.

Tougher PK rules and restrictions.

Conglutinate expanded to cities too.

Offplane XP loss reduced to almost nil.

Know what I mean? It's killing the competitive atmosphere.

I really don't see that. If anything, that would *encourage* competition, due to people not being as frustrated / willing to quit due to immense losses.

It could be worse-- could be reduced to celestia.

Lame pun for a lame topic.
Unknown2006-06-04 22:23:01
No no.

Think of a FFA. The competition is barely there, it's quite a relaxed event. No one has anything to lose.

In a spar, the two parties are generally quite cordial and laidback.

Compare that with a duel, where experience is at stake, and things get tougher, shakier, faster, and far more exciting. Your heart pumps as you realise that if you juuust finish that judgm- bam, deathsight and 15% experience.

The more players have to lose, the more intense the experience is. Lusternia is mellowing.

Edit: mellow.gif to Ixion's lame pun.

All this does, Amaru, if prevent griefing through forced praying. I don't see why you're so mad.

EDIT: You're more well known for jumping people than for participating in these oh-so-exciting duels you seem infatuated with.
