I tried for a minute or two to find the logic in this post, and have failed miserably. Someone mind explaining?

They could have sought to deal with Grutina and her crew themselves.
It's the equivalent of Mag saying "It's alright, we can live with half the Demon lords and Luciphage dead and unable to ever again be alive, we'll just hunt essence constantly to try to make up for the power drain. We'll just ignore our Nihilists constant screams, cause they don't matter!"

Wow, after reading that log I am curious why Sereniwlde didn't just try to Convince Glomdoring that it would be in Glomdoring's best intrest to get these new spirits, and that Serenwilde was doingt them a favour for making the offer.

Elryn was trying, but the other two guild representatives kind of said "Agreed" right away. Which kiboshed that whole scheme.

anyway, just pointing out that lots of things could have happened.
Still think you should have asked for gold payment and a public statemetn about wyrd not being taint, instead of the village and fae stuff.
Or some other concrete thing that they can't go back on later.

We were supposed to barter with the life of our Great Spirit?
Seren: "Help, one of the two most important things in my life is in trouble. You can help me by doing something that will empower you. Will you?"
Glom: "No, not interested unless you also do this and that and the other thing."
Seren: " ... but I don't wanna."
Hello, poor-roleplay?
Yes, we should have focused more in our statements to express the "you can help by accepting something to empower you" bit. Arundor was the one with the presence of mind to mention it most. Elryn alluded to it. Me, I was up past 25 hrs straight of being on Lusternia by that point and it was rather difficult to keep up with everything, let alone contribute. Everything we were getting was pushing us to hurry, hurry hurry, can't stop, can't wait, can't pause, no chance to have other people come on to talk or talk about it later, if-you-don't-do-this-in-the-next-minute-you-forfeit.
I would have much preferred if we could have had time for the communes to deal with each other rather than, as much as it made rp sense for Her to do so, Viravain stepping in and dictating that here are demands to which we must agree and then having the Gloms state the demands. I'm not sure if you three were guided or not, but if you weren't I do thank you - Shayle, Xenthos, and Yeralih - for not making harsher demands and involving anything more than you did. In your place, I would have wanted the same ... I just wish we'd actually been able to negotiate without Divine interaction.
Now, for your amusement, the talks (be thankful I editted out the commune aetherwave in this, and some of the deffing up and movements (not all the movements, sorry) ... it was even more spammy):
Darkness slinks its way across the skies, announcing the arrival of Viravain,
Mistress of the Webs and Her coterie.
Xenthos arrives following Viravain, Mistress of the Webs.
Yeralih arrives following Viravain, Mistress of the Webs.

well as Tsuki, and one other of your choosing, who is not Kalodan."
Krin peers about himself unscrupulously.
Kalodan utters a deep, rumbling laugh.
Laneth smirks.
Felexia wraps a comforting arm around Krin.
Aerenna Dawngale, Warden of Moonhart says, "The guild of Serenguard should be
represented. I am a champion, although I have yet to catch on to what is going
on."
Shulamit tilts her head and listens intently.
Aerenna Dawngale, Warden of Moonhart says, "As such, for now I will remain
silent."
Viravain, Mistress of the Webs says, "Then you are of no importance."
Kiwi becomes overwhelmed by it all and faints.
Sparkling motes of bright light surround the Moonhart Mother Tree.
Felexia wraps a comforting arm around Kiwi.
Reiya wraps a comforting arm around Zezza.
The night sky is clear, and the stars twinkle like diamonds.
Viravain, Mistress of the Webs says, "Choose your third, quickly."
Rafael forms a triangle with his hands and frames the moon within. After
whispering silently to himself, he lowers his hands and a brilliant, silvery
glow surrounds his body.
Elryn Greythane, Songwarden of Avaerin says, "Arundor will speak for the Guard."

all."
Elryn Greythane, Songwarden of Avaerin says, "Dark Mistress of the Webs, we call
upon You in this dark hour to treat with us for the benefit of both our
communes."
Arundor's eyes repeatedly shut as he tries to stay awake.
The Moonhart Mother Tree suddenly flares with pulsating energy as Krellan steps
through.
Zenji leaves to the north.
Shayle squints suspiciously at Elryn.

Viravain, Mistress of the Webs says, "Yeralih."
Elryn Greythane, Songwarden of Avaerin says, "With all the pain that it causes
us to do so, we ask for his aid."
Yeralih's ears perk up with a sudden interest.
Keeper Yeralih Carthan, the Ir'rala'mor asks, "My Lady?"
Viravain, Mistress of the Webs says, "You may now counter Elryn's speech."
Keeper Yeralih Carthan, the Ir'rala'mor says, "I do not see why Hart's troubles
should be of concern to Brother Crow --- or His Nest --- at all."
Miakoda, Maiden of the Moonhart gives a pained sigh.
Miakoda, Maiden of the Moonhart says, "Before the Taint, Crow wasn't as
malevolent as he has become."

The night sky is clear, and the stars twinkle like diamonds.
Viravain, Mistress of the Webs says, "And do so quickly, or I will skip over
you."
You say, "As Brother Crow and Mother Night contend they remain a part of Nature,
so too much their concerns be with Nature. Without Hart, with whom would Crow
struggle?" (and that was supposed to be "so too must" not much ... bah)
Miakoda, Maiden of the Moonhart gives a pained sigh.
Miakoda, Maiden of the Moonhart says, "Before the Taint, Crow wasn't as

opinions as they suit you. It seems to be your way. I can think of countless
times that we have approached you for assistance, with your own, when they have
been out of line, and out of control---it was of no concern---this is not of our
concern."
Arundor opens his eyes and yawns mightily.
Arundor stands up and stretches his arms out wide.

The wind whistles eerily through the trees.
Midnight shadows coalesce around a new day, and Mother Night embraces the land
in utter darkness.
It is now the 21st of Dvarsh, 149 years after the Coming of Estarra.
You tell Serenguard Arundor, "Queen of the Night, Shayle d'Iasani Treeripper
says, You change your views and opinions as they suit you. It seems to be your
way. I can think of countless times that we have approached you for assistance,
with your own, when they have been out of line, and out of control---it was of
no concern---this is not of our concern."

descends to fill it, causing the previously expressionless face to fill with
emotion.

stag, hope it all goes well for ye--nobody likes it when a pet dies! And thanks
for ye patience with us mortals Lord Charune."
Spirit Warden Xenthos An'Ryshe, the Ebon Strategist says, "I do not see how the
restoration of White Hart will make the Glomdoring stronger, or indeed why you
ask this of us after years of exerting your will and attempting to "dominate"
the Glomdoring."
Miakoda, Maiden of the Moonhart says, "The White Hart is our guardian and can
never truly die."
Trina is enveloped in translucent fire for a moment and is gone, her soul safe

Mother."

you all seem to be quite fond of. What I do know, is My creation lays within
that egg, that there are spirits he holds within it that seem to be tied to your
forest and this forest as well. Hate each other all you want, that is your own
business, but Our creations should be more respected than to be bartered over
so."
Sparkling motes of bright light surround the Moonhart Mother Tree.
Beithe nods her head enthusiastically.
Kalodan murmurs softly to himself.
Athalas steps out of the Moonhart Mother Tree, trailing sparkling motes of
light.
Athalas rushes away with a startling cry.
Beithe kneels onto one knee, demonstrating her humility and respect.
Aspirant Felexia, Devotee of the Wolf looks respectfully over at Charune.

happening. We're seeking to restore him."
Elryn Greythane, Songwarden of Avaerin says, "There are certain... ancestors,
members of the Hartstone who chose a different path in life and now in death
seek to destroy all that we have achieved. These shades are bound to White
Hart's fate, and by releasing Him they will join you and yours - with all of our
secrets they have learned, and even power enough to cause the Hart this peril on
their own. There is no greater weakness which we can offer to you. The recent
afflictions of the Wilde itself are evidence of what they can do."
Miakoda, Maiden of the Moonhart says, "The White Hart is our guardian and can
never truly die."
Elryn Greythane, Songwarden of Avaerin says, "We call upon not your compassion
or your brotherhood, but we call upon your shrewdness."

see the Wilde acknowledge the Wyrd for what it is. Not the Taint or any similar
illusion. But a new entity. Something unique and still part of Nature."
The body of Jasper Greythane appears in a flash and his soul descends to fill
it, causing the previously expressionless face to fill with emotion.
Elryn Greythane, Songwarden of Avaerin says, "Like yourselves, they did not
believe that to rely on the natural order was sufficient for their purposes.
They became learned and empowered with... unnatural forces. This is why they
were banished."
The sky lightens and stars fade as Father Sun approaches the horizon in his

to Mother Night when in the Faethorn realm, as in accordance with the wishes of
Queen Maeve. And I expect that all fae who choose to serve their tah'vrai in
Glomdoring be allowed to do so without interference or abduction."

enter your villages with no intent to do harm, but simply to shop or to harvest,
and ensure that they do not get enemied for this."

Now, for your amusement, the talks (be thankful I editted out the commune aetherwave in this, and some of the deffing up and movements (not all the movements, sorry) ... it was even more spammy):

says, You change your views and opinions as they suit you. It seems to be your
way. I can think of countless times that we have approached you for assistance,

for ye patience with us mortals Lord Charune."

Viravain stares implacably at Darven.
Munsia places her hands on the Moonhart Mother Tree and disappears in a fountain

descends to fill it, causing the previously expressionless face to fill with
emotion.
Charune, the Horned One says, "I don't know, nor do I care about the arguments
you all seem to be quite fond of.
The night sky is clear, and the stars twinkle like diamonds.
The howl of a distant wolf momentarily silences the crickets.
Beithe stands up and stretches her arms out wide.
Reiya sits down.
The body of Aerywyn, Seren Brave appears in a flash and his soul descends to
fill it, causing the previously expressionless face to fill with emotion.
You tell Aerywyn, Seren Brave, "Don't say anything."
Queen of the Night, Shayle d'Iasani Treeripper says to Viravain, "May I speak,
Mother?"
The night sky is clear, and the stars twinkle like diamonds.
Felexia tilts her head curiously.
Viravain shimmers into view before you, emerging from the shadows.
Viravain, Mistress of the Webs says, "However, despite this...."
Aerywyn tells you, "Uh... of course."
Viravain, Mistress of the Webs says, "Blacktalon, make your demands."
An owl hoots off in the distance.
Keeper Yeralih Carthan, the Ir'rala'mor says, "I would like to know of these ...
spirits, first. If I may?"
Elryn Greythane, Songwarden of Avaerin says, "I can explain, if you wish."
Keeper Yeralih Carthan, the Ir'rala'mor says, "Please."
Aerywyn tells you, "If I may ask, what is going on?"
Reiya gives Arundor a concerned look.
The night sky is clear, and the stars twinkle like diamonds.
A large egg shaped construct rocks as small cracks form along its surface.
You tell Aerywyn, Seren Brave, "White Hart is dead, after quite a bit more
A wry smile spreads across Yeralih's face.

A frost hag says, "Go well, fae-tender."
The night sky is clear, and the stars twinkle like diamonds.
You tell Aerywyn, Seren Brave, "There isn't. and only three of the Serenwilde
are allowed to speak at the moment, or we forfeit White Hart's chance at life."

it, causing the previously expressionless face to fill with emotion.
With a wistful look on his face, Reiya touches the Moonhart Mother Tree.
Keeper Yeralih Carthan, the Ir'rala'mor says, "In any case ... we would like to
see the Wilde acknowledge the Wyrd for what it is.
The sky lightens and stars fade as Father Sun approaches the horizon in his
neverending quest to capture Mother Night.

You tell Jasper Greythane, "Don't say anything."

to Mother Night when in the Faethorn realm, as in accordance with the wishes of
Queen Maeve. And I expect that all fae who choose to serve their tah'vrai in
Glomdoring be allowed to do so without interference or abduction."
Jasper tells you, "Naturally."
Beithe of Autumnal Moonlight wrinkles her nose.
The bright sun shines down upon you.
Shayle raises an eyebrow at Beithe.
Beithe curtseys respectfully before Shayle.
Crying out in his sleep, Aerywyn's legs twitch and jerk.
You hear a rustling and turn to see Krellan emerging from the undergrowth.
A frost hag nods graciously to Krellan.

enter your villages with no intent to do harm, but simply to shop or to harvest,
and ensure that they do not get enemied for this."

no compromise."
Crying out in his sleep, Reiya's legs twitch and jerk.

and wish to complete the oath that binds the Serenwilde, we will continue."

And yes, it was very spammy.
Edit: By one minute beforehand, I mean one minute before she told us to present our demands. We were standing at the Moonhart when we got told to prepare them. I can only assume that this was to cut down time to make iron-clad decrees.
Estarra2006-06-11 22:06:08
Towards the end, when everyone (i.e., the admin as well as the players) were getting tired, irritable, hungry and punchy from being up for 10 or more hours, a quick ending seemed appropriate. In hindsight, I must admit that I would have preferred for Viravain to not be so dominantly involved in the end and rather that the players negotiated among themselves. However, dwelling upon what shoulda-woulda-coulda happened in an event is not overly productive.
I'm glad many of you enjoyed the event! And I regret some of you were disappointed. Alas, it is difficult to please everyone! Certainly, I think it was a memorable introduction to Charune, the Horned One!

It definitely was that.

Meh. Lame. I find it disappointing that such an agreement was forced on the Serenwilde. The Wyrd not being Taint would have been fine at the absolute most. The other stuff wasn't quite fair.
And Elryn, you tried to use to many flowery words. Should have kept it simple and got your point across, that the Glomdoring would have been gaining to simply take the spirits with no other agreements necessary.

Yeah, telling other people what htey think is never a good way to convince them to take something.
I would have just said, We offer you this gift of the spirits we captured, will you take them? They seem to be more attuned to Crow than to Hart.
But Clearly, Viravain had intended to make you think certain things were true that where not. Such as Glomdoring knowing what the hell was going on

And yes, it was very spammy.
Spammy? I bet you didn't have four different channels plus having 30-60 people in the room at the same time as well, for most of nine hours? Lisaera divine mandated for most of time during that group of 60 people, gave us all a nice breather.
The novices who didn't even know who hart/crow/Elders were... they were the worst, it was bad enough explaining the next leg of the adventure to mobs of Seren's, let alone trying to explain a hundred years of history to a novice so they would see the futility of the situation. "But can't we put them on astral?" "but can't we just place them at the ravenwood?" "but what it we put them in us?" "But can't we boil the egg?" "but can't we boil the egg and then destroy it?" "but what if we boil them and put them on the road?"
I do wish I had logged the part with Iraen shooting blue light out of her mouth though.
Oh, and when we finally summoned Him near the end, I was thinking "Oh shi- We've unleashed a Soulless one!" because He was described as a huge dark form at first.

Honestly, we had no idea, nor had we really been caring for the most part.
