Maybe I'm in the minority, but my idea of a good time is playing a character who enslaves fae and imposes her beliefs on Nature and feels very justified in doing so.
I secretly want that, too >.>
But honestly, at this point, it's the only sensible route to take -sigh-

I love Glomdoring to pieces and think it has an extremely rich internal culture, but I was expecting darker RP when I signed up and hope that, as the "military" and political odds even out, we'll eventually go in that direction. It's disappointing to hear Xenthos say OOC that we really do respect the wishes of the fae: I was really hoping that that was being done for propaganda value. Maybe I'm in the minority, but my idea of a good time is playing a character who enslaves fae and imposes her beliefs on Nature and feels very justified in doing so.
Xenthos does. It is a very good propaganda tool, and it is also what he personally believes. Of course, I don't expect him to be Marshall *forever,* and it's VERY possible that a future Marshall could take a more aggressive stance than he does (I'm actually expecting that to occur).

You know? I really like Glomdoring, but I can't play something I don't understand the origins of. If I'm willing to be a slave of the Glomdoring and follow orders I need to know what the hell IS Glomdoring, mainly, the wyrd.
Should I take this to another thread?
And concerning a point made.
Serenwilde currently is THE forest without mercy. Maybe the whole Basin should act that way towards them, but I doubt it will happen...
Magnagora is having a rough time with Glommy and they need potions, which they would only get from Seren if they go to war with Glom
some people in Celest want a war with Seren, but they need supplies, so they MIGHT turn to Glommy but Glom is tainted.
Glomdoring needs an uneasy ally. They need Seren to be there not attacking them.
or maye I may be wrong.

Simply put, the philosophy I see behind glomdoring is that of Emanual Kant, Darwin and Capitalism.
Struggle, Conflict, and Competition create the Greater Good.
Ontop of that, I see the Wyrd as the Kudzu plant. You can look up Kudzu plants here http://www.yahoolavista.com/kudzu/ .

I know.. but what are they? Tainted? Non-tainted?
Daganev2006-06-05 19:44:28
non-tainted.

People of Glomdoring will say OOCly and ICly that Glomdoring is not Tainted. But a lot of other will refuse to let that be the case, and the Admin refuse to clarify.

EDIT: Well it could be tainted. I mean, Viravain cannot see the taint, so maybe she is tainted and not able to see it. The other Gods just don't wanna hurt her feelings

The case is that Viravain and Isune had the ability to get rid of the Taint.
They both wanted to get rid of the Taint.
Viravain wanted to make the forest stronger, and Isune wanted to make it beautiful. They both, however, hated the Taint.
The Wyrdling popped up, sucked up all the Taint and rained down Wyrd. The Fae sang.
I'd call that not Tainted. But that's based on a silly thing called logic
But then again, both Serens and Celestians are hypocrits anyway, given that they eat/use wormwood in potions, yet it is Tainted.
ferlas2006-06-05 19:51:57
Full story is it was created from the taint, it isnt taint any more.
Basic 5 min summary of the situation is:
-Glomdoring say it never has been taint and never will and it isnt taint! Honestly it isnt! Really!
-Celest go Oh yes it is taint! I saw it! Its taint look it was made from taint! Oh and hajamin told me glomdoring was tainted so like yea its tainted!
-Serenwilde go yea its taint and thats bad, its crow and thats bad, its shadows and fae zomg thats bad.

No. That was fixed.
Isune could see only Taint. Viravain couldn't see Taint. They merged and seperated, allowing them both to see "reality".
Viravain was able to see Taint when the event went down.
Daganev2006-06-05 19:57:58
Your forgetting the part where Viravain "missed" the forest, and hit the outer tainted shell instead, so that the taint was removed and the forest survived,.. Just like Kudzu during the winter months.
Glomdoring was tainted, but it no longer is. For IC reasons, Celest and Serenwilde say its still Tainted. Its really not that complicated.

Well.. now I like it
now let's hope that one day I get rid of MY HATRED TOWARDS EVERYTHING THAT IS FOREST.
I just dispise with passion the Forest guilds. Especially Seren. Didn't liked it back when they had just Hexes and Healing, don't like it still now. I try it and it just sucks...

Even though Lisaera said it the taintness of Glomdoring was meaned to be an unknown after the wyrd, there is neither confirmation nor a denial that glomdoring is tainted. Your 'simple' doesn't even apply since it was the intention of the admins to leave it unanswered.
Daganev2006-06-06 00:38:26
It is not answerable ingame.. however, in an OOC context, it is very answerable if you use simple logic.
Shamarah2006-06-06 00:45:00
The admin INTENTIONALLY left it unanswered and up to the players to decide.
There's no final right or wrong answer.

Lisaera said OOCly on the forum that there was no right/wrong answer.

Well you can never prove a negetive so I guess that is techically accurate, but I'd love to see an argument that takes all facts into consideration, showing how it is indeed tainted.

You could make arguments for both cases and still have "yeah, but..." questions left over to argue. Good luck trying to convince anyone of one thing. We're all too postmodern to agree.

Damn these threads...too much fun to read!
With regard to manipulation/propeganda and the like:
Shayle is pretty much always branded as manipulative, deceptive, and untrustworthy. She denies it completely. As a player, I enjoy being the enigma. I have no desire to clear up the confusion (even OOC!)and I believe that, at least where the Shadowdancers are concerned, the darker aspects of the Glomdoring are alive and well.
