You can believe that it is just an opinion, but give me evidence of the taint creating something then I will say "ok, the taint can creat something." From what I've seen, nothing new has come from the taint, just something different.

I agree with what Tsuki said. The other 2 communes didn't come to Gloriana's aid when the cloud over came because it would have probably been too late for them to give help, but if they had they could/would have left themselves and their spirits open to corruption and change, a very horrible and bad change. It isn't exactly bad that the Wilde and Ackleberry felt that self-preservation should come first. That's what humans do, isn't it? The world, no matter whether fantasy or reality, is based on survival of the fittest in some way, shape or form. In the case of the taint, nothing really got destroyed except for bits and pieces of personality. Some people could have died because they weren't strong enough to handle the change, but some did. Crow and Night survived the change because they had the will and the strength to live. Correct me if I'm wrong, please. Its been awhile since I've read the histories. Oh, well old Celest got destroyed but was it because of the taint or because they destoryed it themselves? It can be said that yes, Ackleberry and the Wilde did "betray" Gloriana for not comming to Gloriana's aid, but it can also be said that they were just trying to save themselves. Just like Hallifax and Guigdauch, or however its spelt, did.

Again thats just opinion, you could also take the opinion that the taint did create glomdoring, you could think about it like the taint and the old gloriana combined to create the glomdoring wyrd, which means the taint did create something or you could take the view that the taint didnt create it but just altered it. Its all opinion as to if the taint can or can not create.



As you asked Celest got destroyed by Maralith, ladantine came to take the pool so he could become a god and his daughter tried to stop him failed, basically she blew the place up to stop ladantine getting the pools power. While this was happening serenwilde left the city folk to die instead of rescuing them which they could have done. Lolly was all upset that serenwilde left what she felt were innocent people to die.

Well yes self preservation as you said was the motive of serenwilde and ackleberry preparing or running off, I was just pointing out that they were running or preparing to run and glomdoring was the only one who refused to run and stayed to try and fight.

I know a large difference, Serenwilde is on fire, and Glomdoring isn't!

Pretty much correct. The only purpose of the Soulless is to destroy, unmake, ect. On a cosmic scale they really aren't that evil, in terms of a sort of cosmic 'balance'. Or they weren't, when Dynara was around.

But the purpose of the taint isn't to create - ask any Magnagoran. We are the Engine of Transformation, and it's that aspect of 'change' that we focus on.
