My personal preferene to make them useful for rp and combat would be you burn one herb and you are constantly cured of any afflictions that that herb gives for the next 20 seconds, very powerful but limited and required prediction and the opponent can easily switch to a differnt tatic during the twenty seconds its burning and curing you.

That would be rediculous. You could completely shut down a telepath or runist with that.

Not really, If you make it one herb and it constantly cures that on a six second tick and you can only have one burining at the same time it would be effective, You would have to make it expensive and have a bit of a power cost and then again its only 20 seconds. Thats like saying med bag makes people immune to warriors. Well to be honest it could do if you used it well.

Or we could just have a decent skill, which is cool, has no combat purpose, remember, this game isn't here just for people to fight and murder eachother, there are those who prefer not to fight out there. It'd look cool, and be a kinda cool thing to have say in a office in a manse or a guild office or something.

Okies, no combat thinggies. But the indoors only idea would be good, except that it would be no good in many places. I mean, it would be nice to have an incense burning at the Nexus, it would add to the atmosphere (no pun intended) Maybe it could cure everyone entering the room of the affliction that the herb cures? It should use more than just one herb, I suppose. I don't really like the idea of being RP only. If it's only gonna be cosmetic, though, it should be pretty low down in the skillset.

EDIT: Or it could make a peaced room...
"*sniffsniff* Hey, dudes, peace out with that great smell..."

They have campfires that restore endurance, maybe these could, on a long tick but for an extended time, restore very small amounts of willpower, but have nice messages while they burn. That would make it more useful out of battle then in it.
QUOTE
Zenji entered the Chamber of Wisdoms in the tower after a long day of teaching novices and tending the fae. Throwing his pack on the floor he approached a plush high-backed chairs by the fire, slumping down tiredly.

"Hey I'm sitting here!" cried a high-pitched voice.

Looking up in the direction of the voice a smile slowly spread on his face. Sivriel was hovering above the chair, her quick reflexes saving her from a bitter end.

"I'm sorry,” he stammered out while blushing. Getting up, while Sivriel fluttered back into the chair, he walked across to another one. Quickly checking above below and on both sides he verified that no faeling or furrikin was hiding in the cushions, he slumped down a second time, relieved.

"You don't mind if I light up do you Siv?" he glanced over at her.

"I didn't know you smoked!" She stared, slightly shocked.

"I don't" he chuckled, "but these new incense sticks I bought on my last trip to the Crones Crafts sure do."

She nodded to him and he placed the small tray of sand on a nearby thick oak end-table, pushing three sticks into it, and then fumbling inside his robes until he located his matchbox.

Lighting the sticks with much more skill then he had used finding the matchbox he sank back deeply into the chair, the worries of the day slipping away as he breathed in the soft scents. He would have to figure out what to do about the matter discussed earlier eventually, but for now he could rest.
I guess that was a bit of overkill, but I tend to go where my muse leads me.

/understatement

And Willpower regen would be awesome, although here's another idea: what if you light them with a herb, and they'd cure the FIRST affliction afflicted to you that that herb would cure. Like fitness for the warrior, or Rubeus in rituals... although the actual affliction message would need to be changed, as to not mess with
people's systems. And only one stick per room. It would be a very long balance ability (5-6 seconds?), so it couldn't be used in battle.
Unknown2006-06-09 17:51:46
For 'long' I was talking about like 10-12 seconds, like fae balance is, or even longer, so it would be most useful with combinations of other things, like willpower gems, rocking chairs, and meditating. It would then be most useful for dreamweavers, or after extended hunting by magic users.
Saran2006-06-09 18:27:14
I'd like it if you could combine a few into certain combinations that have a slightly stronger effect

Could be cool if there could be one to induce visions.
*imagines*
a group of hartstone druids sitting in meditation in the grove, carefully lighting incense to induce a vision (probably a modified version of dreams or something, set to the org to go with known history, such as the discovery of dreamweaving, the return of the gnomes... etc), they expect some glimpse of the past or something, then they forsee tully comming to sweep the grove and scream.

sad.gif Please, no willpower regen! Rocking chairs already do that, and I want the Admin to change it so we can make fountains instead!

Ah, sorry about that. I'm not familiar with any of these, so just brainstorming tongue.gif

I think the serengaurd did (not sure if they still do) something like that...

And what's the problem with a skill that serves no purpose except for rp? Personally, I think that'd be pretty cool.
Arix2006-06-09 22:55:00
Some people just don't like to bother with RP, they'd rather run around comparing the size of their swords
Mirk2006-06-09 23:00:57
If they don't want to bother with something purely for rp purposes, then they don't have to do anything with the skill for it.

It's not like they're required to do anything with it, right?
