Alright, so the last few hours Magnagora and Celest have been busy dealing with the recent Seawolf victory in the Inner Sea. At the start of it, a group of Celestians went to attack Ladantine and were greeted by a bunch of Magnagoran defenders. We were slaughtered, and practically all of us were forced to pray.
I logged for a bit and ate some food... when I came back, a group was assembling to attack them in the Inner Sea. We go and kill most of the Magnagorans there, forcing some to pray (including Athana, who we'll come to later..)
A little while later, the same thing happens, this time inside the Ship of the Dead. We go in, attack, and end up having casualties on both sides. Athana ends up dying again. She asks if I can hand over the corpse. I say yes, with a gold amount and a promise to stop hunting the Tidal Lords. She goes ahead and prays.
Where does RP end and grief begin? Did I cross the line? I feel awful now.
Sorry Athana

EDIT: Hmm, I am cranky.

You have no obligation to hand over a corpse for immolation when someone died because they were just attacking your cities interests. I have no clue why this is even being asked.
Ashteru2006-06-09 09:20:52
It's good form to give your enemies a rezz after a fight. *shrug*
Especially with higher level people where 20% lost can mean a month or more of bashing.

I was never granted one. Hell, I can't even get my stuff back if I drop it during combat. So, Forren did fine for me.

Honestly, I don't think Celestians will ever understand the fact that the rest of us don't have sacrifices waiting for us at the end of the tunnel.
Either way, there's no good answer to this. Heh, this is why I'll never want to become Titan. I'll probably stay somewhere around level 81.

You did ok IMO. She's your city enemy anyway so don't feel guilty IC. But it's ok to feel guilty OOC.
Shamarah2006-06-09 10:13:32
I'd have got them an immolation if they were in neutral territory, but if they were in the Inner Sea, they were RAIDING, in which case they have to face the consequences.
Murphy2006-06-09 10:48:51
enemy territory praying is 50-60%.......
ANd i wish i was around then. would've been a nice fight.

Oh pish. It's 31% at level 78. Prayed in Serenwilde two days ago, I'll have the rest of it made up tomorrow.
Murphy2006-06-09 12:36:04
I've prayed before in places like rockhom, and lost upwards of 50% at lvl 78
Xavius2006-06-09 12:36:41
Vitae? Don't vitae unless you already have an escape plan in mind.
EDIT: Or maybe being enemied to both the org and the village makes the penalty double. Hrm. That could possibly be a bug.

yeh its a possiblity, and i use lichdom
Geb2006-06-09 12:53:27
Hold up... How many of them handed over corpses of our dead when we went after Ladantine (which is enemy territory for us btw)? If I die on the prime plane and my corpse is taken, I expect to pray. In fact, I did pray. Not once did I ask for my corpse to be handed over, because I do not expect any quarter from my enemies.
Murphy2006-06-09 13:13:00
I make it a point of offering rezzed to anyone who's corpse I find if i believe they are going to have to play, simply because i'm a good sport, and some celestians do it for me too.
ferlas2006-06-09 13:22:52
I have the policy of never picking up corpses so that if they want a res then they can get one, this policy dosnt apply to people who have previously attempted to force me to pray. Seems a good standard really just ignore the corpses of people you kill.

That does seem like a good kind of general policy.
Athana2006-06-09 13:46:48
Whoa..when did I ever ask for my corpse? You're the one who offered to be merciful which was very nice of you and even though I could have easily payed the reparations Athana's personality is too proud to make deals like that...It sucked praying twice but I'm seriously alright, now I get to work on a new RP I was thinking about for Athana because of that last death And it should be fun...Plus it's summer and I have 3 whole months to get the xp back and torture Celest

I think it was more because Athana and Forren have a pretty good understanding and respect for the other. If I was there at Ladantine I would have given him his corpse back if he asked.

You guys seem to want an Inquisition hammer your balls to the wall Celest. A Celest like that should not even be giving mercy to her enemies. OOC considerations about how much experience a person will lose should not even come into the picture. Simply put, each side should expect that no mercy will be given. Death to the Infidels and all of that Jazz should be in full effect. (Unless what you guys really want is Celest to be hard when it suits your purposes, but soft when it benefits you.)

One would be following it's role in the history, the other not being a general ass.
