Shouts that are insults towards a person should teleport you to that person (and possibly strip your defences and/or leave you stunned)

Shouts that are insults to an org should teleport you into that org somewhere where there are lots of guards.


Just a suggestion to stop all the stupid childish shouts we always get whenever anything remotely happens.

Then suggest an idea that will stop the "Haha, you suck, I can mock you all I want and I'm sitting in my own city so you can't do a thing about it, hahaha" crap that we get all the time, it's so lame.

You could just live with it.

You wanna say how they could code that? It would turn out like Word's grammar checker. Always being wrong and often missing the important stuff.

There are two possible reactions to an insulting shout:

First, ignore it. Most people who shout are making arses of themselves and don't need your help with it.

Second, respond in suit. A snappy comeback is worth a thousand deaths.

I'm more a fan of shouts taking a randomized amount of endurance - between 1/3 and 2/3 of your maximum. Try to shout with too little endurance left and...

That's a great idea! Event though Lady Terentia's 'If you wish to speak like a cow, I could simply turn you into one' thing seemed immensely effective.

Yeah, let's burden the staff with even more stupid babying features, when you could just type "shoutsoff;snub @target" and achieve the same result.

Meh, I just started this thread out of annoyance at all the stupid shouts that go on.

The easiest solution, (and actually a serious one), if one sees them as a problem, is to make shouts cost experience instead of endurance.

... yeah, lets make it so only the youngest and weakest people are capable of shouting. That'll solve the problem.

Or how about shouts killing you. Pray for a shout.
Or maybe... enemy to Lusternia. That would look cool in stat.

Seriously though, random endurance cost doesn't sound bad.

Minimum level reqs for shouting already exist Up them a bit to something more reasonable.


EDIT: And if it is a fixed amount of experience, you don't have that problem. Make it 1% of level 85 or so. That would take a level 20 down to level 1, wouldn't it? Give a nice warning/confirm first that tells you how far down in experience the shout will take you.

How about this.

Each shout takes randomly between 1/3 and 2/3 of your endurance.

If you don't have enough endurance, it takes the remainder out of your health.

And because most people have much more endurance than health...

I still say between Thul's ghost plague, virtue of Lady Terentia, and the threat to turn shouting offenders into cows works just as well as an exploded chest cavity. After all, what's a big hole where your heart should be when you could instead be turned into meat to feed the rats and weevils?

I'm a low con race so shouting for me is very limited, but I guess warriors can shout a lot more.

It does usually slow down though, and people are often chided by their nation or even by gods, if it's something really stupid.
