After spending four hours reading through (and acting out) "The Eye of Argon" with a large group of friends, there is only one thing I can say to all this raiding ranting. "Mrifk!"

I hate that I still have six days before I can get my interent hooked up and when I log in to read the news and so on I see all these neat projects and RP events that the guild and city are up to and I wanna participate but I can't cause I can't be on for much longer than it takes to check the news and maybe send a message or two off or say hi to someone - I'm not even sure I'm going to be able to submit my entry for the city's literary contest in time - and it makes me sad.
But I LOVE the awesome public news posts between Amaru and Elryn! Very cool! Elryn's was especially neat to read.

I have a feeling one of Noola's posts kills a rant or two just cause she's so cuddly and chipper
And I forgot what I was going to rant about here.

Aww! That's sweet!
But yeah, I decided I didn't like complaining all the time and since there isn't a similar thread for enjoyable things, I decided I'd just try to put something I like for every time I rant about something in a post. Though sometimes I forget to.

Hehe, I just like to laugh every time someone says "If the war bothers you, end it". It's amusing because you can say it to both sides and both will go "HOW DARE YOU WTF!" It makes me giggle because the warring factions don't actually have an objective in the war, therefore neither knows how to really go about ending it themselves, just waiting for the other side to end it.

I'm pretty sure that if one side says "These are our demands for peace, the same demands that we made before we went to war," you can rest assured that it's not a two-sided thing. I haven't seen any reciprocal offers from Serenwilde.

(And... still are?)

Not really. You declined to provide formal protection for their interests. Stop attacking us, but we refuse to hold the commune accountable for what they do by telling them to stop attacking you? Haven't you Serens learned yet what happens when you don't hold people accountable? You of all people, Laysus! You who bemoaned being unable to control people for everyone's good!
So...no. No, that doesn't cut it.
Narsrim2006-09-10 22:44:22
Given Serenwilde is on the defensive (that is, it isn't launching any offense against Celest), what could possibly inspire you to be so daft?
Celest has -nothing- to gain by stopping its assault on Serenwilde as Celest is in no shape or form suffering. If Celest desired "peace" on the ground of stopping its assaults, it never would have attacked in the first place.
Serenwilde, however, does have something to gain. Serenwilde has lost a lot of guards, Ladies, not to mention the continual slaughter of the Aspects of the White Hart -and- the Moon Avatars. Many Serens have died, and most have suffered quite a bit of experience loss, power loss, etc.
As I see, Serenwilde is only hurting itself by trying to uphold some silly principle that it is free to kill what it wants. How many Serens must die? How many times must the Avatars be banished to the bossom of Mother Moon? How many Ladies must fall? Serenwilde seems to imply that such attacks do not hurt it, but as a former Seren, I know better.
You might think Celest will eventually tire... and it might, but not a long long time.
=======================================================================
The beauty of this situation is that Celest is DOING what Serenwilde CLAIMS it can do: kill whatever it wants... in this case, Serens and everything they hold dear.

Yes, we've lost guards and Ladies and Aspects and Avatars and all the rest. Will ending the war erase that and bring them and things back to "normal?" Nope. Being as all that's already happened, many times, should we now suddenly be panicky and fearful and rush to prevent it from continuing? Nope. We've gotten enemied to Celest and to Terentia's Order, Serenwilders get attacked outside of our territory and are forbidden entry into others ... so are we supposed to be worried and fearful of those things happening when they already have and are? Nope.
I also don't think we've implied the attacks haven't hurt us, but they're not hurting us as much as you assume they are. You neglect to consider the advantages and benefits to us of the situation as well. By seeking to end the situation, we'd lose those and we don't want to. For the benefits, we can certainly put up with the irritation and boredom of Celestian tantrums.
You're asking the questions as if you're hoping for an answer, a number you can meet. There aren't any answers to those questions, because doing those things isn't having and isn't going to have the effect Celest wants.
Narsrim2006-09-10 23:26:44
While it may not be hurting you, Tsuki, I find it foolish to assume it isn't hurting others. How many times have you prayed and lost hard earned experience? How many times have you been faced toe-to-toe with an enemy that kills you and then takes down something you, as a Seren, are sworn to protect?
More or less, you usually aren't there and even when you are, you normally don't venture out. There are Serens who do - and the damage dealt to them is significantly more so than you make it out to be. I know this because as a former Seren, I have many of them complain/talk to me about it. I've had several Serens literally go off in a cussing fit about how they sick of the war.
You also aren't one of the persons who spends the time resurrecting the Avatars, etc. I'm sure you help, but as I guarded Earth/Water for large period of time, I never once saw you there.

I really hope Serenwilde doesn't cave into ooc pressure and decide that the deaths of our loyals was all for nothing. I really don't see it happening either, since despite the supposed insight into our current state of mind, I think Serenwilde is really benefitting big time from this war. For the first time in a long while I'm hearing a lot of unity and positive, constructive efforts.
Focusing on some big bad enemy was just what we needed.
(Well, some big bad enemy that didn't roll over and claim to be a better part of Serenwilde every time they were pushed. )

Thanks! I liked Amaru's first post too. I can't decide if I want to reply to the second - the whole haha, alliance-newbs! arguments are so vacuous, and bad enough on the forums without bringing it to the public boards.

I was told Estarra favored Amaru for his cool post. Dunno if its true or not, but that's what I heard.

Same. I hope they cave to IC pressure ICly, I have no idea why they don't just give it up. It may be unifying or whatever for a bit, but after a while, it just gets annoying to constantly lose so much, and its not like Celest is asking for much.

Well, if I remember correctly, when Celest was in our position and Magnagora were walking over them there was no surrender there either. It's just not something that is built into our organizations... we can't just give up because its oocly convenient, at least not without significant compromises (or a divine plot that involves imploding hart, heh).
And to Serenwilde, it is asking a lot. I don't know what the ooc impression of what Serenwilde should have done is, but I for one am phenomenally glad we didn't cement Celenwilde. Banning the slaying of angels (and I seriously doubt our goodies would allow the protection of demons) would have been disastrous in my opinion. I really liked Shamarah killing/capturing fae, and was extremely disappointed when he was outvoted.
This is a new and interesting plot development, and its nice to be h8ed ( ) for working together with someone different for a change.

Well, Celest is inherently defined by conflict with Magnagora. Surrender really isn't possible in that instance.
Serenwilde, on the other hand, doesn't have to be fighting with Celest and ending it would be fine.
