That is true, I suppose. But there really don't appear to be any of the previous diabolical aspects left in Glomdoring, except verbally. What happened to viewing the fae as tools to be used and discarded, rather than revering and respecting them? Or the bloodlust of Crow in making his enemies suffer, as opposed to preferring non-violence, peace and pleasant relations? Where is the scorn with which all non-Wyrded forest/peoples are viewed, as weak and pathetic and in need of the power of Glomdoring? What happened to the willingness to use any and all means to further Glomdoring's aims, including the undead when necessary? Where is the belief that Wyrded nature is the epitome of perfection, and the old, stagnant nature has become irrelevant?
It may all be an act designed to woo Serenwilde into a false crisis of identity, but I doubt it. Always the people of Glomdoring I've spoken with IC and OOC seem to want to be an integral part of Nature to 'balance' Serenwilde and achieve the same aims. As Chron, I really, really, liked the potential for RP possibilities, and the players that have been in Glomdoring so far are absolutely awesome people... I just wish they wouldn't try so hard to muscle into Serenwilde's mindset.
Glomdoring was always doomed to not reach its 'sinister' edge.. I mean.. Viravain picked Gwynevere to be the first Queen of the Night. And Daganev to be the first Chieftain, and Bau to be the first Eye. Now, i'm not dissing any of the players.. (well, maybe Bau ) but none of them were exactly Sinister.

Mostly, I love any opening we'd have to ally, even temporarily, and switch up the conflict axes now and then. For a bit, Mag and Seren were pretty much allies. It was interesting. The fallout was interesting. If we're too dissimilar, and it's reinforced by mechanics and gods, everything becomes rigid and stale. It's why Sylphas has always pushed back against bias towards Celest (and OOC I'd love to see all out war someday over something).

3. You may only kill other members of the commune while you are both standing in the commune. If the person did not conglutinate, they were not in the commune.
He didn't really put a stop to that. We still use it from time to time, it just has qualifications saying that if the Court finds that it was unwarranted, you were in the wrong and get some punishment.

They -are- just like us. And while pure RP-ers are no doubt excited by the chance to have no actual reason other than history to combat an organization, I find it really awful. Celest I don't mind being unreasonable about, there's enough current differences to at least justify a grudge being continued. Glomdoring... bleh. I hate it. It is the worst thing about Lusternia at the moment.
I actually like the Glomdoring. It's kinda fun being a reclusive, cranky hermit and/or completely batspoor psychotic at times. But then, I do that as all my characters, regardless of if I intend to or not.

Okay, two things.
First, using real-life beliefs as examples, Bad. It's silly because the parallels and analogies don't hold water. It's two entirely different contexts.
Second, speaking as the only one here who is actually in Magnagora, I can say that Magnagora is militaristic, yes, and while it's not fundamentally evil by itself, it's selfish and has a lot of sadistic and even evil people in it.

*cough* Hi. I am there too, in a certain incarnation who will remain unnamed. And I do agree with the assessment of not fundamentally evil, but it's certainly the most rigidly structured organization I've been in (all save the Serenwilde). Now, not to say that it's bad, but it's certainly the closest IG thing to a militaristic society that I've seen. Especially what with the specialized raid training for geomancers.

I hate how every time I log in, I argue with Nessa IC or OOCly, even when I try not to OOCly, I'm not going to back down when she tells me to rush an intro or ignore a novice, that's just WRONG. Yet, I can't argue with her ICly, because she's the dictator of Hartstone and all.

But Shayle is. the Shayle.
-----------------------------
Nessa needs to be run over with a truck. Or contested at least. She was a bad admin, and while that log is my only experience with her as GM, I'm guessing she's utterly abominable.
And that's impossible. She'll just call in her Achaean friends who don't even play Lusternia that she GFed to GR3 when Lusternia came out, they'll vote for her, and she'll win again, just like every time in the past.
Or so the rumors say, and they certainly seem true. I have never seen a more OOC guildmaster in all of IRE. She has even spoken OOC (even marked as such) in a say in front of several other members of the guild

If you feel people are being called in only to vote after months of inactivity - try and ISSUE it. We're not going to look too kindly on people who have not played for three months, at all, and miraculously log in for 5 minutes, their only major action being voting before fading into obscurity again. That is just rigging a vote, plain and simple.

If I was at all certain it was happening, I would, but all I have to go on are rumors. Granted, I heard the rumors from about eight different people, but they are still just rumors. I really shouldn't be spreading them here, but I was half ranting, and half hoping someone would confirm the rumors with some proof.

Bad. Wrong. You're being confused by our special-order confusing PR. We still want our enemies to suffer. We still have scorn for outsiders. It's just we care more about us -not- suffering then we do about others suffering.

Do what I tried. List everyone in the guild who can vote, active or not. Track their lastlogin. Have someone contest, and watch what happens. It should work, although it's takes a lot of time. And it helped that I was GM and had all the nifty privs and could have outguilded the buggers if I found them.

I don't know who can check lastlogin, but I'll try to find someone who can to try this. Thanks for the advice. Not to deride Nessa, but I have just heard of this happening from too many sources.
I really wish there was a "must have so many hours of playtime in the N days before the election to vote" thing, so none of this would be necessary.

They added that on Imperian actually.

Secs and gr10+ I believe.
And I really, really, really wish they had that. Even one that just locks out everyone listed dormant when someone contests or a spot goes vacant.

secretaries can check lastlogin? Since when?
And for ranting: WHY OH WHY do the paladin undersecs have full access to the project groups, yet full secretaries don't?
Sylphas2006-06-21 16:54:09
I was guessing. I went from gr3 to gr20, I don't have any clue what comes between except what I learned in my time in Achaea and assuming they're the same.

Heh.. damn, if I had known it was issuable, I would have been Hartstone GA
Anyway, I know it happened because you can check a list of all Hartstone members, and the list doesn't show people that are inactive for X ammount of time and beyond. I made a list of voters based on that, and there ended up being 2 or 3 votes more than that, and then I checked the list again and it was easy to pick out the people who suddenly emerged from inactivity.
I'd say that method works well enough, rather than needing a GR10.

But because of people like Shayle and Xenthos, being a hermit is out of the question. In fact, if you don't jump for joy at the chance to influence, or if you don't recite their propoganda ten times daily, they look for ways to kick you out. Being a hermit is not an option, I would know, because I was in my manse 90% of the time when I got kicked out of Glomdoring, they can't let you be, they have to pick, and poke, and remove any goddamn useful people in the commune, until they've crippled themselves.
-That-, is Glomdoring.

I hate people who send a tell to you wanting to debate but then kill you as soon as you get there. I hate those people who then take your corpse, giggle like an evil schoolgirl from the Netherworld, then take your corpse away. I hate people who use thier IC excuse for doing so as "I'm Tainted, I'm evil like that." And if I ever catch up to that little mother , -raping , I will kill you and I will evisercate your corpse in such a manner that you will not recognoize it. No one with Sion.
