What an awful book.

Premise: the NHS sucks. (Introductory note: "this book isn't a personal attack so you can't ignore it.")
Focus: some district of sudbury where the PCT sucks. Reference material mainly tabloid articles entitled "the man who treats public services as a pension fund for fat cats".
Arguing style: reminiscent of Narsrim arguing with someone else about the same thing for 400 pages, but with more jargon I don't understand, and without anyone else interjecting witty/off topic comments.

And by no means is this the worst book I have had to review! It has been recently discovered that I both read and type faster than anyone else here so I've had to read through the company's whole book library and review them so people know what's worthwhile reading. Good gods. The things people think they know about autism (and related subjects.) The worst, for those interested, was probably "The Theorem", an incredibly patronising-sounding book describing how people are capable of lying because we're fully conscious in the womb but drugged with amnesia-inducing chemicals and in a sort of 24-hour cycle we can only remember half of at any given time where we're convinced that our mothers are dying and that kicking them is saving their lives.

Good. Grief.

Anyway, I hate stupid mother who have nothing better to do than hack into other people's .

I can't work right now. And over 1,500 sites and directories were completely written over... and because we don't keep backups (and WHY THE DON'T WE?????) we've got to rebuild it all.

Anyways, my rant: I hate that I'm like 30 hours into FF12 and judging by the storyline and difficulty of certain marks (I'm up to fighting rank 3 marks! yay...except that they're absolutely beastly and have something like 200k hitpoints... quite scared to see what rank 5s are like) I think I'm barely like 20% through the game. Love it so far, though.

Also, didn't someone say Nejii was like, 13???

Why does it matter which section its in so much?

Rants about the game are rants about the game. They do not belong in the real world section, especially given how highly flamatory many are. Also, many people who play the game just to play the game don't read through the "life outside of Lusternia" sections, especially not this one. Having rants about the game here is just... wrong.

Read some Freud. Then read up on your psychoanalysis in general... and it will start to make more sense. Still wank imho, but it doesn't seem quite so stupid.. and many very intelligent people accept many of those theories. I was once tutored by a Professor (which will sound mundane to you Yanks.. but in England, to be a Professor means much more - you have to have real academic standing) who believed it all and applied it mercilessly in her books on criticism... and her classes... feminist psychoanalytic critical theory.. it was a nightmare..

I was a psychology major in college, but I still don't understand that connection. Freud was whacked out; a brilliant man, don't get me wrong, but also very 'ed up. Still, I don't believe even he would make that theorem's connection though, as his personality theorems were based off of infantile development and fixations, not while you're still a damned fetus.

I mean...fully conscious in the womb? that, our brains are still developing, making rudimentary synaptic connections and the like. The entire concept of self is not even possible, let alone full consciousness.

And then bridging that to lying? Um, how? Even if you shed all doubt and accept the postulate that 1. We are conscious in the womb, and 2. we are kicking in an effort to save mommy's life...where is the logical connection to being capable of lying? It makes no sense!

And that class sounds brutal. I hate self-righteous lecturers who will spout off such nonsense as scripture.

Well you were doing the proper stuff then. As far as I can see though, psychoanalysis is all a load of balls. But I said that recently, and it turned out that the person who was sitting next to me's mother was a psychoanalyist.. and I spent the rest of my supper trying to fend off the ensuing argument.

And yeah, you're right.. it's not one of Freud's... it's someone who isn't Lacan or Klein but might have been. To be honest I can't remember, I was handed a hell of a lot of handouts from a huge variety of different authors... Generally when psychoanalysis and literary criticism combine you get something not very scientific and not terribly useful. It's not the hugest of leaps though.. if you can accept the argument that birth is a traumatic experience that affects you for the rest of your life (I don't...), it
