Actually...well, I would agree had I not seen...well, much worse. You mightn't think it possible...but when some guy actually tries to USE the 'hey baby, are those astronaut pants? 'cause your butt is out of this world' (which has happened to me...sad to report...)

What the hell is this pick up line crap? I don't need a prerecorded asinine message coming out of your mouth. If I want a good first impression, eyecontact works just fine in place of you opening your mouth and making yourself look stupid before having the chance to prove your stupidity throughout a full conversation.

EDIT: also, do people actually use pick-up lines in the real world? I mean...I guess I wouldn't know if they were, but I thought they were like, mythical. Or from the 80s.

Dunno. The only pickup line I would EVER use is, "Nu zin falani en allys midhron." I actually nearly used it on my first girlfriend, but she asked me out before I could get the courage to. She would have gotten the reference too : P

Sounds like a situation you should have had enough foresight to get out of long ago. Not to say the guy doesn't sound like an irrepressable prick for putting you in that situation. I'm not trying to defend him. I'm just saying I hope you learn something from the situation your now faced with besides, "All men suck."

I've always preferred, "Can I make you purr?" but it only tends to have any relevance when you're dealing with people wearing cat ears.

On the other hand though, if you're giving off the right vibe, and you follow the pick-up line in the right way, then they can be pretty effective, so long as you're obviously trying to do it in the name of humor to break ice. Oh, and it also helps if you're actually good at being funny

Well, perhaps women will have to learn to make moves before silly boys open their mouths for such nonsense. Pick up line decreases your chances by about...100%. Amusing or not. Honestly...if a girl sees you, catches your eye, then probably she's already noticed you and wants to get to know you...without the silly prefab lines.

Hey, at least they're trying. I can name two of my friends that are completely unoriginal when it comes to getting girls. Besides, if the pick-up line is creative.. Maybe they've put some thought into getting your attention! ( Not saying I've ever used a pick-up line, though. I'm personally one giant flirt. )
