This may not be a serious rant but...
I'm sad that my stomach hurts from laughing so much because I watched Lost: Halo style. Oh gods, the gay elite. He's scary!

EDIT: Plus I'm just generally moody. Plus I have three annoying cousines visiting. They just want to watch movies. And bother me.

Hey Noola! You and all your other coworkers should start a revolution and totally like, take over the company! And elect a new boss! Everything will be the same, but with a new boss. Yup.

Viva la revolution! (or however that's spelled! laugh.gif )

I'm just glad it's Friday and I've got a whole boss-free weekend to look forward to now. cloud9.gif

I'm annoyed that I turned in a job application and waited for three weeks with no reply. On the third week, I went on location and asked what was taking so long, and apparently all of the slots for the summer had been filled. So, I sat and twiddled my thumbs for three weeks expecting a reply. They could've at least called me! Argh!

And now I need to find another place to get a summer job and soon. Anyone have any suggestions? I don't really want to work with food, but if I can't find anything else... I want something preferably respectable which looks shiny on a resume. smile.gif

Vista.

Some aspects of zMUD aren't Vista compatible. Thus, Ciaran's system appears to be a Vista no-no.

Java and Vista are very meh together. I extremely dislike trying to log on with Nexus.

I'm still irked at a fairly large handful of Gloms, so logging on just to stare at GWHO is not entertaining. I can't even let Xavius (who still has gotten no closure from the issues) handle grudges in-character. He's quite volatile, but it doesn't work if you're trying to fight without aliases. I can't justify a sudden change of heart in him aside from playing him as broken and resigned, which I'm not quite ready to do.

End result? Nearly complete inactivity.

Bleh.

Vista is the sum of all evil.

Take it back. Keep XP. Wait 'till Service Pack 1.

What is wrong with you? ohmy.gif

I'm in the exact situation! I applied to this summer camp that I was overly confident I could get in, but one and a half months later, nada. I also want to find somewhere nice, but I've learned that if you're too picky then you might end up jobless the entire summer =S I think working with food if you're gonna be a waiter/tress would be fun, though those usually pay minimum wage. So yeaah, I'm now debating whether to apply as an usher at some grad ceremonies my school is holding in the summer, or as a support worker for a man with a disability (the latter sounds really good, but I don't know if I'd be capable). I guess, just hit up a job search engine and bookmark the ones that seem somewhat related to your career and goals =)

Also Vix: Summer jobs vary a LOT depending where you're from. Check places like JOBING.com, but waiter/waitress (Shou), is actually good pay if you do the job well and get an okay establishment. Shy away from places like Bob Evans, or Denny's (unless you want to do grueling hours to make the cash), and get something more midrange. A burger place like Red Robin, for example, is middle range for food costs, and waiter/waitress typically make a fair bit without as much work. The higher the range of food costs, the more balanced you'll need to be. (Work harder, or tip out most of the staff).

If you want more help, let me know. I have a bit of experience in helping people find jobs that suit their tastes.

Feh. Jobing.com doesn't bring anything relevant up. I guess I could do the waitress thing, but standing for hours makes my ankles itch. The job to which I applied was for a local bookstore.

JOBING.com is a great site, have had alot of luck there. If you live in densely populated areas Craigslist can be really helpful as well.

A good tactic when dealing with the job market nowadays is just keep applying until you get a job. You can always say no, and if you get a better offer a few days or weeks later you can always switch, and in the meantime you've made some cash already instead of waiting.

I used to use temp services a lot for summer jobs. I'd put my application in with about three temp services every summer, and I almost always had work. Work that paid a little better and was a hair more interesting than most summer jobs, too. Although only a hair.

I could definately agree with this. During my senior year of HS I applied to a couple of these temp services and actually got a job with one with UPS doing revenue auditing.

If you are pretty muscular and are still looking the majority of UPS depots are always lookng for package handlers (have to lift 70+ lbs) and the pay is pretty decent, hours normally from 4pm to 8pm.

Blah summer jobs. Living somewhere rural makes it so much harder to find something sometimes. lucked out and I'm going to work at a little market place in the center of our town.

I don't want to translate code. I have productive RL things to do that're monotonous, like studying for the PRAXIS. cMUD's out.

Vista came with my shiny new computer. My old copy of XP was on one of those Compaq quick restore discs. I don't want five year old Compaq drivers touching this. So, XP's out.
