The person in question doesn't need a lot of things, but kids will be kids and there comes a time when "free speech" is just an excuse to reveal one's immaturity. Bottom line is it's a GAME. If it comes to a time when someone feels such contempt for another player of a GAME, turn the GAME off, swallow whatever pills necessary to even out and think about getting a life smile.gif

No kidding.

Not having enough time to play Lusty between school, partying and being sick. Damned school.
Sylphas2007-06-09 07:35:40
Working midnight-8 every day this week.

Also, going out for a run, stepping on a damned pot full of soil or something, and smacking my thigh/hand down onto concrete for a nasty brushburn. (In my defense, it was 2am and very cloudy, so I totally didn't see it.)

On the bright side, I'm calling off work on Sunday because of it, and if they give me :censor: about it, I'll just point out that I have no qualms about quitting over the phone and never going back in, putting them three people down instead of two.

The internet going out in a storm while I was sleeping. suspicious.gif

...and then waking up the next morning to find out the DSL modem/router was fried or dead, or something. mad.gif

...and then Tech Support telling us we needed to -buy- a new one. ranting.gif

...during normal business hours (This was Friday, so we have to wait until Monday) badday.gif

...and then, after waiting days for the part, getting the wrong part, which only gives limited service to -one- computer in the house. banghead.gif

This week hasn't been very happy for me, and I haven't be able to be in-game -at all- to experience what I discovered I liked best about Lusti, and have been waiting for... for quite awhile now. depressed.gif
For all I know this will take another week to fully be resolved, and until then I'll only have (at best) intermittent access to the net.

My continuation of Zenji's rant:

Latest update: Instead of going ahead and ordering another of what we used to have from the Verizon people, m'dad decided he wanted us to try having a dsl modem (second-hand from someone he works with ... huh.gif and yes, I went in and changed the settings so they match with ours instead of anything that might've still been in there) and a separate router.

Long story short: It isn't working. Routers may also be evil, though conclusive confirmation of this conclusion is still pending and subject to possible further investigation.

Long story details, somewhat compressed with most excessive repetitions of actions not all included:

Nice and easy little setup wizard, so far so good. Get up to the point of finally having everything plugged in, check if all the lights are on ... huh, it's not registering that it's plugged into the computer (m'dad's, down in the room with the modem and router ... which I, clever me, later realized is using Windows 98, and by reading the box I can see that the router m'dad bought is for 2000 or XP. We haven't told him that yet ... that should be fun. So that's why that didn't work.). Well, that's strange, let's try again. Some time later, nope ... still no luck. Just out of curiosity, let's try plugging in one of the cables for the other computers. Oh look, that registers! Great, let's cart the cd with the setup wizard across the house and upstairs to where that computer is and try to continue. Click, click, click, okay let's try to setup the information for the router. Hmm, the router can't connect to the Internet? Alright, so you say that we should turn everything off and restart them in the order of modem, router, computer. Got it. Huh, still the same result. Let's see what the troubleshooting says. Hmm, turn everything off again and make quadruply sure all the cables are secure. Yeah, yeah, been there done that. Fine, we'll do it again. Nope.

Alright, plug in the connection from the computer directly into the modem, eliminating the router altogether. Hurray, online connection works ... let's go to their website and see what they have in terms of support information and technical answers. Got it, got it, did it, did it, aha ... let's use the IP address to go directly into the router's internal setup/configuration and plug things in directly. Downstairs and across the house to plug everything back through the router, go back upstairs to the computer, follow the instructions that were described online, and ... nope, still doesn't work. Go back downstairs to plug everything back the other way, then return upstairs and get back online to their tech support and faqs and whatnot, keep searching and reading about alternatives. Okay, have some more ideas of things to try, let's go plug everything in the other way through the router, then come back and try them. No? Try them again. Still no, but at least we got an error message this time to look up. Go and switch things around so we can get online again and look it up. Alright, solution to resolve the error message is .... powercycle everything. ... We just did that. Three or four times. Fine, we'll do it again. Try again. Nope, same error message. And there's nothing else to try.

I neglected to include several more power cyclings, various redundant connection checking "to be sure the cables are secure," releasing and renewing my computer's IP not once ... not twice ... but three times in the course of following instructions, upstairs, downstairs, upstairs, ponder bashing head against wall, etc.

So, yeah. Internet connection situation for Zenji and I in our house is ... not resolved. dry.gif

Ok, so I have one of those Comcast bundles, right? The one where you have your digital cable, internet and phone all in one? Well, my cable and internet are fine, thank goodness, but my phone is all screwy. When I try calling any number, I just get a busy signal. So, I went to work to use the phone there and called Comcast and was like "What's the deal?" and they were like "Dunno. We'll work on it. Call us back in 24 hours if the problem isn't resolved."

smirk.gif

Here's hoping I don't have a fire or break-in or medical emergency I can't drive to work to call about. laugh.gif

I hate Comcast's support with a passion. We had horrid service with both cable and internet, so we switched to Dish Network and Verizon FiOS. FiOS is simply amazing - cheaper, faster, more reliable than cable modem. Haven't switched phones yet though. Hope it gets fixed soon!

Ok now I have a good rant. There were two gunshots somewhere on the streets outside my house about 1hr ago, followed 30 mins later by fire engines going past. So now I can't sleep :/

I'm assuming the phone goes through the same bandwidth as the cable and internet. The problem is more then likely a due to a string of problems that companies have been having with certain hops on their routing to get your information packets where it needs to go. Roadrunner/Timewarner type people have experience similar issues and in fact I've a few myself right now. Connection speed on your internet should be perfectly fine, low pings running fast. But if I'm correct about how your phone line works, you can go to Start>RUN> type in cmd, and ok, then type, tracert www.abc.com and wait for the route to be traced. I suspect you'll see more then 2 or 3 asterisks pop up from doing that and it's from dropped packets. It's the sort of problem that's somewhat out of the providers control and their only viable solutions are to reroute you through some other way which isn't very easy or financially responsible for them most often.

there's some major hub/router issue going on in the eastern side of the US currently and it's causing a huge pain in the side for a lot of digital bandwidth providers and I suppose a lot of customers.

Then again I could be 100% wrong. But.. in that case.. that's my rant. having 7.2 thri 13.6% packetloss while trying to play videogames online is obnoxious.

Just get in your bathtub and go to sleep, and consider yerself part of the cool crowd, that gets to sleep in their bathtub on special occasions to make sure they are hit by stray bullets smile.gif.... Nah but seriously, sleep in your bathtub if your nervous, most metal tubs will stop stray small arms fire. ie. 9mm, .380, etc.... Now its not a guarantee but it is a hell of a lot better than sleeping by a window.

Weren't Verizon the ones who thought 0.2=0.002?

Left wrist is hurting like hell, especially when I bend it forward. Getting paranoid about carpal tunnel. Not really sure what to do. (Though I know it isn't carpal tunnel 'cause I can make fists fine and don't feel any numbing. Paranoia and all that. If I ever smoked weed, I'd probably wear a tin hat to prevent the FBI from reading my mind.)

People telling me I need to use that wrist more- get off the computer and do things.

Like going outside. The OUTSIDE world of sunlight and happiness and no computers that the stalker girl person lives two blocks down the road in.

You will both suffer shortness of breath when not near your computers.
You will both curl up and die when exposed to the sun.
You both made are for each other.
