Except for the fact that they are creatures created by Viravain, and are, in fact, part of how she chooses to represent herself?
They don't like people in their forest, yet you expect them to make an exception for you killing their Patron's creations? Riiiight.
Yeah, and the deer were created by our Patron, and are the Children of our Great Spirit... and yet funnily enough Glomdoring can hunt them for any recipe/product, or for fun, without us being permitted to warp them instantly to guards.
Serenwilde contains tree frogs, the only source of tetrodin (deafness) poison in Lusternia. An unfair monopoly for certain, but as niricol (blindness) is located in a neutral place and outperforms tetrodin in almost every circumstance, it's not too devastating. There's also the fact they are often found in the northern serenwilde, which is not flowable/scentable from the south.
Glomdoring contains the only non-loyal spiders in Lusternia, required to complete one of the most useful repeated quests in the game. They also hold a monopoly on anerod (relapsing), dendroxin (withered arms), mactans (chills) and mellitin (weakness) poisons. Four out of the total twelve ecologist-useable poisons, including two of the most useful.
Not only that, but they go out of their way to make sure that no-one else is allowed to hunt in Glomdoring, and none of their members can trade those corpses. Not just outlawing it, but actively pursuing with all their might to prevent any other person in the game accessing those resources.
Unknown2006-07-01 03:23:12
Guess what. That's how Glomdoring is. It's their ****ing RP. They are cold, reclusive bastards. They don't care about you. If you must bitch, bitch at the developers for putting all those important things inside Glomdoring.

Agreed with Guido.
That, and Magnagorans were allowed to hunt in Glomdoring for quite some time.

Blah blah blah...
So.. essentially you're saying that they should change their RP due to mechanics that they have no control of?
Unknown2006-07-01 03:26:38
No, I'm not saying they should change. They're free to do whatever the hell they please.
I'm just pointing out what frustrates me, and how I wish there was more of an OOC acknowledgement of the situation. They don't care, as you said, but I'm free to be annoyed by it.

Yeah. I find it kind of annoying that I need a nut from the Moonhart, but I'm not really going "You guys shouldn't defend the Moonhart because it's for a quest!"... I understand that you kind of need to do so.
Shiri2006-07-01 03:27:09
Just because it's extremely annoying that they do it (and that it's set up such that they can, not that we should be being surprised by that sort of thing at this stage) doesn't mean you can really expect them to act differently.
But just because you can't expect them to act differently doesn't mean it's not extremely annoying, either.
EDIT: Doubleninja'd.

There IS an OOC acknowledgement. I wouldn't mind some of the critters being found elsewhere.
But while they're in the Glomdoring, we can't really look the other way when you come after them.

There is a slight difference - the quest actually -hurts- us directly, as an organization.

No more than it hurts us, though. (Not that we'd really give Serenwilders a Ravenwood nut just for asking, either, of course...)

Y'know, i think I should be allowed to run through the Glomdoring forest to find those poor, poor deer to give back to White Hart! Ain't my fault my character's damn loyal to White Hart and if he bloody well askes her to go onto a suicide mission with Xenthos telling you "Leave." then she's bloody well going to go on that suicide mission!
*flop* leave a poor novice be...you come off as evil, Xenthos, just plain evil. With ONE WORD!

I HATE how people can complain about jumping from one order to another, yet in my ENTIRE IRE EXPERIENCE I've Never managed to get into a single order, even the ones I was completely devoted to. I mean, WTF? How do they do it?

Yay! It's about time Xenthos was the evil one.
Oh and...I can't stand how people complain about not being able to get spiders when there are spiders in villages as well. *whine* But I don't want to be enemied! *whine*
Get over it. You can always get amnesty or parley. *whine* But I don't want to do that! *whine*
Yeah.

What part of "neutral quest" - you know, doable by anyone, doesn't get you enemied to places if you do it, etc - do you not understand?
I'm really sick of Glomdorian players OOCly refusing to acknowledge the favoritism the admins have shown them.
EDIT: To clarify, Magnagora currently has Dairuchi and Angkrag. So, you're saying that, if a Magnagoran wanted to do the quest, they should kill spiders in their own villages, getting themselves enemied to their own city? This is the way it should be? I thought you were more intelligent than that OOC, Shayle.

Thats not true. I buy corpses for poisons from gloms all the time.

Someone seems to have forgotten the days when people from Glomdoring had to kill fae. Get over it. Being enemied isn't the end of the world, especially OOC. Favoritism... Come on, Shorlen....you can call me unintelligent, but that obviously doesn't make it so. Time to grow up!
Torak2006-07-01 16:55:40
Anyone who says it is fine that you either have to get enemied to a village or go into a commune risking guards and a bunch of players needs to snap back to reality. That isn't right, there is no getting around it. Infact no quest should make you have to go into an opposite city/commune to complete it.
Laysus2006-07-01 16:57:49
I hate how there's only one decent bashing ground I can get access to without being hunted for it, that being the gorgogs, which is the most overhunted area ever.

Getting Fae is not a neutral quest. Neither for Serenwilde nor for Glomdoring, not in the past and not now.
And here I thought you only RPed a person who only talks but doesn't listen to what others have to say. Time to grow up!
