My computer has decided to take a nosedive too.
Every so often, it crashes without crashing. Right-click gets disabled systemwide. Can't open new programs. Programs crash relatively often when you attempt to save.
Norton's firewall has completely flipped out and blocks all transmissions inbound and outbound, even though the settings haven't changed. Soooo, I'm running around with just Windows firewall up.
IE's tabs are funky and sporadic.
On a happier note, Vista SP1 is in beta!

I used that for a while, but CMU requires that all students use Norton.
I kind of liked Trend Micro (etc) better.

AVG FTW.
Xavius2007-10-22 00:28:05
AVG treated me really well. I might get that back. I'm more annoyed that it (and the rest of Vista) decided to flip out on me one day and not get fixed by restarting.

Well there's your problem.

Wimps. What you want to do is run absoloutly nothing, with occasional trend micro housecall scans.

My DD of the NWN2 expansion pack finishes. "Hell yes. Now I can finally advance that warlock into ungodly terri- wait.."
An hour of turning my house upside down later, no NWN2 disk. I do have the case and the manual, though, complete with cdkey. Commence screaming in frustration at wasted expansion pack money now.
..oh, that, and because the owner's wife is a shrivelled old prune, my home needs an inspection, apparently. I think I'd be better off just soaking the place in bleach and pretending it was painted white in the first place rather than cleaning a room a day.

Children.
For the second time in two months, my niece decided that it would be a good idea to leave school - AKA run away! - while it was still in session. She's only nine, but hokey pete, she's starting trouble early.. After hours of search parties driving through town looking for her, the police picked her up three miles from the school. She's grounded again, and now that the police are involved she'll be to court again as well, I suspect. I doubt they'll be going easy on her this time.. ugh. She's ridiculous. All this over a detention for passing a crude letter, too. At least this time she was walking home, though I'm afraid her logic absolutely escapes me.

Ah, as for virus issues, I'm rather fond of Kaspersky. I'm not sure if it's compatible with Vista, though.

Children are nothing but trouble, best to keep them drugged, makes them sluggish.

Someone needs a spanking! I wouldn't be able to sit down for a week at least if I'd pulled a stunt like that when I was nine!

My mother would have beat me senseless.
Aoife2007-10-22 21:52:06
My mother would have....
Well, yeah, I'd probably have been beaten senseless, sent to my room, and she would have demanded that the school "keep an eye on me".
Too bad that girl's too old for those little hand-cuff things parents use to keep a hold of their kids!
Fortunately, my idea of running away was, when I was 7, getting a friend, piling everything we wanted into a chair or something, and wishing we were in a fairy kingdom.
Yeah, I totally wanted to marry a prince

Having to make a 3 hour drive to pick up someone from an airport they weren't supposed to arrive at, then having a ton of homework to do, and as a result, missing the most fun thing to happen on Lusternia in a long time.

Sister's favorite cat insists on sitting on my wireless receiver thing. Somehow, I don't know how or why, that blasted cat blocks the internet for me. Occasionally, she actually improves how fast my internet is. Anyone have any idea how difficult it is to position a cat for the best reception for a wireless connection?

I hate losing my internet for most of the week. I also hate that I won't get to play Guitar Hero 3 for a while even though it has the most amazing list of songs on it!
