Leviticus is old Jewish code, which doesn't apply to Christians any more than the prohibition against eating shellfish. Which is also in Leviticus. Furthermore, John went out of his way in that particular statement to let people know it was his opinion, not Jesus'. However, I'd like to draw your attention to John for another passage.
