Coding in Lusternia

Um, except the incidents I'm talking about didn't have to do with me?

Hajamin was known for telling players "I've seen the code, and I know that's not how it works" and then being absolutely wrong.

So, let go of your Haj-fetish, please.
Murphy2006-06-18 04:25:00
how bout you let go of your haj hate.

people are wrong at times, myself included. Hajamin's actions, apart from editing the logs, i supported. Someone was being a retard with an inactive god's powers. Anythat that's neither here nor there.

Who cares? He was a great coder, he did wrong, and now he's gone.

Let's not fight about it when it doesn't matter anymore.

I just hope this doesn't go and make -another- new god spring up. yeah, bgringing back old gods is kinda "Word, their personality is all different!?" but it's better IMHO then "Another inactive order, another 3 month fling god"

I have a feeling that Hajamin's experience with wanting to "cheat" is part of the reason that Ilryias won't have any God type roles, but will rather be NPC's instead.

Less emotional attachment when your two steps removed from directing an order and the like.

Hajamin was quite frankly, the best thing lusternia had going for it combat wise and whatnot. The simple fact that development slowed to a crawl after his departure is a testament to that.

Whether he made a mistake in deleting the order powers of someone who could have used them to worldburn an entire city is a different matter, it was a bad choice to lie about it. People make bad choices. But the action itself was in the best interest of a city.

So shut your bashing on Haja, he's an amazing guy, and will do an incredible job developing Ilyrias, there is no doubt in my mind

do'nt need credits, it's all ability baby

If you'd never bought one credit you wouldn't be so good, no matter how much ability you've got.

Things have been slower this year due to two volunteer coders having to depart a while ago for other personal obligations plus an IRE-manded under-the-hood code rewrite that has shelved most of our plans until it is finished. The code rewrite is nearing an end, which should help pick things up tremendously (you would not believe hor much time this consumes for Estarra, Lisaera, and myself), and one of those two volunteers is likely returning soon. As Estarra said, IRE is may have a Lisaera-replacement for us. So those are all positive things.

I wish you could allow mortal coders. I don't want to give up playing the games, but I would love to help develop them at the same time. Still, I'd consider applying for a real position as a coder and giving up my mortal character, except that my full-time job and other responsibilities precludes me having much time to devote to such a position.
Gwylifar2006-06-19 19:10:20
They used to, did they stop?
Daganev2006-06-19 19:14:56
Mortal builders are different than mortal coders.
Vix2006-06-19 19:29:38
Mortal coders would be way too abusable. Just tweak a few numbers and your enemies would be pushovers.
Soll2006-06-19 19:51:38
They wouldn't have direct access to the code. It's more likely that the Admin would set them tasks, and the mortal would send back the code. It would be checked over, and if it's alright, implemented.

The game started the whole Rapture licence/early stages of development before Hajamin even came to Lusternia. I'm guessing it was more "Ryan's plan" than a "Nerf Baram". Baram is to Ilyrias as Roark is to Lusternia, essentially. We really don't need to bash on decent people, especially if they aren't here.

That said, even though finishing the rapture update will free up human resources, I certainly do hope we get more assistance. Any particular reason why Aetolia got Lisaera?

As has been said in the past, there are disadvantages to having a large number of coders. Having to pick out the mortal coders, assign tasks and such for them, then make sure all the work is recieved, sorted, and implemented, might not be worth the effort.

I imagine they just needed an admin and Lisaera was the most qualified employee for the job.

See, I thought IRE used to do this. unsure.gif
Soll2006-06-19 20:17:57
I'm sure I remember them doing that at one point, yes.

Yep. The 'real' head-admin was getting a new job, and Aetolia was already borrowing Avasyu from Imperian, so they needed to find someone to take the job. Hence, Lisaera gets to play with the Vampires and Werewolves.

I think we are in good shape. Roark and Estarra should be able to handle coding tasks. Like they said, the Rapture upgrade must've been a damned headache to implement--nobody likes refactoring.

I'm sure they're gonna work on warrior stuff as well as further developing Aetherspace, and whatever other surprises are coming up.

Belakai quit.
