I do have to say that the 25% health instakill is THE silliest thing out there, 25% of health for me is -well- under a single cudgel. Now, perhaps it would be more valid for an arti'ed up demigod warrior with around 8-9k health, but that's really the extreme.

I perfer my idea of a druidic instakill. I see druids as the shaman of Lusternia, and the ones who would be reading omens and signs and such. The idea was for a skill called "Foreshadow" which required certain conditions - perhaps, your foe needed to be below half health and entangled in your demesne. Then, a specific amount of time later (perhaps 30-40 seconds), if the conditions are true again, you use the skill a second time to kill them.

Just a thought - again, I'm not much of a combatant here, so I don't really know what is balanced in Lusternia.

Preserve is supposed to be damn hard to pull off, as is the TK instakill. You're right about the others, though. And yes, a 25% health instakill is stupid - You can just cudgel instead. I have no idea of how you'd do a 25% mana instakill; does blacktalon have a way of leeching mana?

Preserve is nigh impossible to pull off. sad.gif It's a shame, because I like the body it leaves. But also not too bad, because the death message seems somewhat bland.

Is it really that hard? You can strip fire, then use freeze just as iceflow hits, and they're stunned so they don't cure it immediately.... but I guess then they can cure it soon enough before you can do anything with it sad.gif

The only time I've ever done it was in a spar against a guy without a fire vial.

You also have to have them below 50% mana, I believe.

The only ways I've thought of to possibly do it, would be to either have two daggers going simultaneously with mactans (on Substratus and Superstratus), or alternating between stripping fire with alteraura (Sub) and forcefeeding food with mactans in it (Sub and Id). Using the food would leave Super open for something like throatlock or choke, but I'd imagine would be something of a pain to have a chef poison food for you regularly.

I figure if you're using leglock and throatlock regularly, combined with burst you should be able to get their mana down by having them clot/focus body/sipping health instead of mana. Then all you need to do is switch to the daggers or food and hope you can hit a lucky strike with your demesne so they're still under half mana and frozen.

Edit: All of this is theoretical and I have had the chance to test it yet, so please don't eat me if I get something wrong. I also understand that it's really only viable for telekinetics. I'm not sure how you'd manage it for other mages.

See, here's the thing about preserve.

It's not hard to get someone frozen.

It's not hard to get someone below half health.

But it is very hard to get both at the same time.

Requiem: It's under 50% health, not mana. Mana would make it totally impossible instead of just mostly impossible.

Ah, I wasn't sure. That would screw up that strategy then, since I don't have anything else to focus on besides health, really. Except against other psionicists, you can go for a burn out.

Elryn and I came up with a few ideas, we'll see if any of them are liked by the other envoys and such tongue.gif
