Maybe they could make demesnes tick 1 or 2 seconds faster? *shrug*

Oh hell no, though let me think about it when I'm sober.
Geb2006-06-18 21:40:34
Please do not have any runes that change the damage type of the staff, increase the damage of the staff, or increase the demesne speed of the wielder. The classes that use such items already have ways to increase their damage. It was already determined that demesnes ticking any faster would be overpowered (Especially the Geo demesne).

The ideas of allowing customization and a fist sigil like ability are fine to me.
Laysus2006-06-18 21:44:04
Plus that way it's likely to be cheaper than if there's all these swanky abilities applied >.>

This might be an idea for another rune, but how about this.

The item becomes a "dancing" item and can be set to attack on its own like an ent. That way, if somebody was hit with sleep/stupidity/paralysis the item could still attack.

Uh what?

In other words, you could order your staff to attack while you just did illusions/other things that take eq.

I think not, to be honest...

Uh what?

It would be like that.

tell staff point staff tuek start

emote takes out a little stool and a cup of coffee. Then he unfolds the stool, sits on it and leans back, allthewhile sipping on his coffee, watching his staff beat up the toad.

*watch Tuek die*

tell staff point staff tuek stop

Hey, it would be pimpin'. You could go around with your entourage of mudsex newbies, set up a demesne and while the demesne and the staff hits, you could just get it down with them meanwhile.

Here... is an added sort of .. roleplay thing(of why the staff came out) for the staff idea that wouldn't really affect much combat-wise.

I was thinking that it would be neat if the once the rune was attached that it could be some type of vessel for esteem, or essence. Instead of imbuing into a flower or something you could imbue it into your staff, and the more esteem imbued the more your staff glowed with esteem power (or whatever you want to call it) Then you could choose to offer your staff. Since it would return to you when called the offering it wouldn't be so horrible.

Ashteru2006-06-18 23:02:18
You just want a glowing rainbow cudgel!
Estarra2006-06-18 23:08:54
We're not considering changing the damage amount or type.

It'd be nice if warriors would use their weapons instsead of moonburst nightkiss! I'd rather make it so weapons are better at bashing for warriors. (We'll get there.)

Um, we aren't going to use a mugwump warrior as a basis!

Non-mugwump warriors use it as well, especially if they're a low-strength race (see: faeling, for example). In general, nightkiss/moonburst are a bit faster than actual weapons, especially with the +20% magic artifact. Nightkiss seems to be more effective, since it appears to have a higher base but is modded less by intelligence when compared to moonburst.

Actually, I used it as a Tae'dae Ebonguard too for bashing. Only like 1 second slower than my weapons, but more UMPH in it. And the 1 second didn't matter that much because I was tanky as....hmm...a Tae'dae.
As a Human I used it too, with a Knowledge blessing. Hrm...never as a Faeling though. Xenthos just needs someone to forge him better bashing weapons. tongue.gif

On the other side....I never used my cauldron or any related abilities. Now it's safely in my backpack, ready to be offered to Fain once there are 100% esteem in it.
Murphy2006-06-18 23:21:01
Perhaps adding a weight to your item, so it can function as a shield as per shieldriposte in trans combat
Laysus2006-06-18 23:24:56
That'd be nice.

Then weaponparry would lead to shieldriposte as well as shieldparry...

I'd be happy biggrin.gif

QUOTE(Sylphas @ Jun 18 2006, 05:24 PM) 299731

I'd actually love if Moonburst used my athame.
The attack messages for moonburst are awesome(and from what I’ve seen of nightkiss as well, makes me think of vampires). Athames are not included in it, it wouldn't make sense otherwise.

I don't understand the need for this... haven't items like staffs and cudgels always been customizable with the regular non-decay/description/resetting options?

Personally, the only thing I would like to see for cudgels is a rune so it can summon torc/vines/faeriefire/rooting/etc... and then we don't need to juggle sickle/cudgel/shield.

I don't really know what minor modifications are necessary to athame/staff, but that's all I think cudgel needs. dunno.gif

No, it's never been allowed.
Soll2006-06-19 00:23:57
Yeah, because there's always trouble with getting a new staff when your old one decays, that has your customised description. With this one, it'll just summong your non-decaying staff back to you thus eliminating the problem of.. Having a certain description assigned to any staff you summon. I'd pay for the rune just so it's customisable.
Shamarah2006-06-19 00:33:37
What if the rune eliminated the willpower cost on point staff? It'd be helpful for bashing but wouldn't be imbalancing for combat.
