Maybe, but I've never seen it do anything substancial to my willpower. The only willpower heavy skills I use are Psionics, which are very heavy. I know Dreamweaving is heavy though, too.
Xavius2006-06-19 00:37:32
OMG! Elryn! Best idea ever!
A rune that makes cudgel function with all the sickle effects!

If you bash for a long time, it does add up.
Unknown2006-06-19 00:43:20
Either you bash for 20 hours at a time or staff takes way, way more willpower than blast, cosmicfire, or symbol strike, because I've never lost a substantial amount of willpower bashing.
Forren2006-06-19 01:03:07
What does it for me is clotting + staff. I lose willpower like crazy when bashing on astral.
Psionics though.. I can literally lose 10,000 willpower in 10 seconds.

Clotting is nasty, yeah.. Half willpower drain?

I bet 90% of that is from clot.

Only 'cause you're careless.
Shamarah2006-06-19 01:36:22
You're probably right, actually.
Maybe a 10% reduction on willpower for all mage skills or something, then? It'd help with dreamweaving/psionics.

Yeah. If I hunt with clotting off, I can do it indefinitely. But you're right, with it on, I can only hunt for a day or two at a good speed before I'm out. Clotting drains willpower so very very fast.

No. Quadruple it.
Fear my cudgel!

Moondancers and Shadowdancers should be able to put the runes on their palms or teeth.
Unknown2006-06-19 02:56:01
Shadowdancers don't bite... so they could put it on a tongue piercing!

The attack messages for moonburst are awesome(and from what I've seen of nightkiss as well, makes me think of vampires). Athames are not included in it, it wouldn't make sense otherwise.
Well, they'd have to change them for it to work. And for some reason I've never liked moonbursts coming out of my palm. It would feel more natural to point my fingers/athame at what I wanted to hit. Must just be me though.
And unless we're doing two or more different, but similar, artis, it would need to be something that Mages, Druids, Guardians, and Wiccans can all use.
That said, I do really, really, really like the idea of something to make cudgels work for vines, etc.
Unknown2006-06-19 04:13:41
Moonburst can't come from an athame because then Serenguards couldn't use it. Same goes for Nightkiss. Palm is fine, I picture the Moondancers as a bunch of crazy saiyans. "DRAAAWWWWWWDOOOOWWWWN!!! ARRRRGHH! MOOONBURRRRST! *PECHOOOW*"

ANNOUNCE NEWS #586

From: Estarra, the Eternal
To : Everyone
Subj: Update and New Artifact Runes
-Druids who wield cudgels do not need sickles to cast those spells that
needed sickles.
-Wiccans who wield their athame get a small damage bonus on Moonburst or
Nightkiss.
And there are now artifact runes for guardian symbols, wiccan athames,
druid cudgels and mage staves! Any rune placed on one of these items
will automatically reset to the owner and be made permanent.
-Great Rune of Gripping: This will make your rune act as though you had
the knight ability of the same name, causing you to grip your item so
that it is difficult to drop. 150 credits.
- Great Rune of Superior Enchantment: This rune will allow the object to
be enchantable for up to 75 charges. 250 credits.
-Great Rune of Shielding: Transforms the object into a shield item, so
you may use it for any shield-related skill. 350 credits.
-Any permanent item with one of these runes can be customized normally
for 50 credits. See HELP CUSTOMIZATION.
SPECIAL FOR GUARDIANS: If you are a nihilist or celestian and rune a
symbol, you must still be deep bonded with a cosmic lord to be able to
use that symbol. However, the symbol will transform to whatever cosmic
lord to whom you are deep bonded.
As a reminder, the 15% bonus sale on credits ends June 20!

Sounds good.
The bolded just confuses me... does this that mean I can have a shield and an athame-shield?
Unknown2006-06-19 05:28:32
Woot! We have the best Immortals...and to think Lisaera is leaving and this looks like it was all coded quite fast! Way to go Immies!

I'm tempted to make 3 bardic entried, get 200 credits, and use them to buy the gripping + Customization rune... 'cept I could never write a bardic... and I spent all my summer cash on the last 250 credits
Sylphas2006-06-19 05:40:28
Looks like you could have both, but the athame or whatever won't add any protection. It'll just let you use shieldstun, shieldparry, and shieldriposte, without needing an actual shield.
Not really sure of the use; anyone who isn't wielding a magic tome probably has a shield in their other hand, especially with the AWESOME AWESOME cudgel change. Well, and for those people who have shieldparry but not weaponparry.
