Sounds good.
The bolded just confuses me... does this that mean I can have a shield and an athame-shield?
No, you can wield a shield or an athame-shield, not both.

Does the athameshield give the same armor bonuses a shield gives? What are the cutting/blunt stats?

I was wondering that too, actually

Edited!

I hope it does, or there is really no point. How many people need two hands for combat items? Now that druids are fixed, the only thing I can think of that would need your other hand is a tome, and I'd definitely prioritize shield over tome.

Excellent additions, and good change for druids. Plus the progress that has been shown with the envoys lately...
I am regaining my faith in the administration.

Tombs, fetishes, I kinda forget to rewield my spatula sometimes... and then there are wands for those nifty icewalls I need to make toadcurse stick, but then again I could just enchant my athame now!

Just get a crown or a necklace.

Something dealing with a cleanse enchant, or an enlarge enchant I think.

When you wield a shield and a "weapon" half the time you parry with the weapon and the other half is with the shield.
This artifact will ensure that each parry is a shieldblock, and thusly you get your 50% chance to shieldriposte at trans combat (This is, of course, if it's a full parry, not a parital one)
I think it's pretty sweet value and i'm getting the unwieldable and the shield as soon as i possibly can.

I still don't fully get it... is there any difference between wielding a symbol with a shield rune and wielding a symbol and a shield?
Shaeden2006-06-19 12:24:12
or you could wield symbol + dagger for poisons now...

Oh, right.
Why do you wield a tomb?
Vix2006-06-19 14:44:22
Think he meant Tome. Would be cool if they worked while not wielding them though.
Ialie2006-06-19 14:47:27
Stupid question. The shield rune if will that help at all in bashing? Would it negate your reason for an actual shield? Does it lower the damage you take? Or does it only make you able to use shield skills? If I had a shield rune for my cudgel would I ever need an actual greatshield ever again?

Shh!! It amuses me more to imagine him running around swinging the Catacombs at sheep.

Maybe a bit too late. But I dont like the gripping rune. I thought the whole point of sever nerve was to remove the weapon which helps disable the parrying ability of the opponent, momentaryly. I remember that being an upgrade actually for bm so the whole artie thing seems like a step backward.
We already have a fist-sigil which prevents the disabler from knocking the weapon to the ground but why is it necessary to give a way to make the highest arm affliction of a blademaster less effective?

Vix2006-06-19 15:15:21
Because athames, cudgels, etc. have a relatively short decay time so fist sigils get expensive (plus enchanters don't exist). Dunno about symbol decay time though.
Soll2006-06-19 15:17:21
Symbol decay time is 18 months.

I'm wondering about this, too. Does the shield rune offer cutting/blunt resistance, like a normal shield does?
