So, this was another good training session for me. The main thing I learned: My Godfather does Psionics burn willpower fast. I couldn't do anything at the end; zero willpower. Which was sad, because I think that would have been fun. That, and, burstvessels are irritating. I wonder if you can find out where I gave up. It's during me and Flacarealah's fight. As always, any suggestions would be wonderfully appreciated. I feel I'm -slowly- getting better. I'm also liking Maelstrom.

It looks like you were spamming psi attacks, which appear to take willpower even when you're off-balance. If you didn't do that you probably wouldn't have run out (but you were spamming like 10 times for every 1 that went through, and it was deducting will every time).
Soll2006-06-19 22:47:50
Yeah, that's about right. I wish it didn't do that..

You could adjust your system to turn off your attack aliases/macros if you don't have balance. Simple enough using your prompt.
It might at least help you train yourself?
Soll2006-06-19 23:01:06
If I did that, I would lose offensive power, since Psionics works off of three different length balances. It's just annoying - and probably a bug, anyway. But that seems a fair suggestion.

You wouldn't lose that if you did it right.
Set it so that it only turns certain macros/aliases off when certain balances are missing from the prompt.

Alias: pa #if (@active) {#if (@substratus) {#send {Psi Sub Paralyze @Tar};#send {Psi Super MindBlast @tar};#send {Psi Id Stupidity @Tar}} {#send {Psi Sub Stupidity @tar};#send {Psi Super MindBlast @tar};#send {Psi Id Paralyze @tar}}}
I suppose I could make it so that it turned off each section if I didn't have balance, but that would slow down my various aliases a fair bit, since I have a large number of aliases for Psioncs. PA, STU, PHO, HAL, AA, AAWW, AAWB, REC, PAC, etc.

For Psionics I have my prompt read through a regex that looks for the characters indicating balance. Then each of my attack aliases using Psionics has an IF/THEN statement for each channel that I could use it on in order of preference. Once it finds a channel then it sends the command and stops looking. If it doesn't find an active channel, then it never sends anything.
This doesn't work for checking overall balance because locking channels takes them off the prompt, but it works perfectly for juggling psionics. It's really a lot easier than I had expected.

You should have diagnosed against Forren. And you got damn lucky against Flac.

Yeah.. That was painfully close, heh. I pretty much gave up when I saw that; thought she'd get one more hit for sure. That was scary.. And I should probably have diagnosed against Forren, yeah. I'm not very good against Telekinetics, though. Nor do I know very many ideas for out-of-demesne combat. There are so few ways to stop Psionic actions, that it's only a matter of time before burst vessels build up enough.

Nice job, soll. We gotta spar again sometime, haven't fought you since you amde the sqitch to aqua.
Oh, and I especially liked this:

I'm not really an expert so take this with a grain of salt and don't call me stupid if I'm wrong. I'm not stupid, just ignorant.
Egowhip seems like a good idea. That's what I use against telekinetics, anyway. As a telepath you have the nifty 50% ego kill, and if you're not paying attention, there's also a good chance of making him burn out. Although at the moment that's kinda a bitchy thing to do since burn out lasts after the spar is over.
Also, if you notice, he was only using two channels. It's possible he was saving one for something special, but it's more likely he had it locked. The only thing I personally lock a channel for is for biofeedback, but that's because I'm a mugwump so my charisma is only a point or two higher than my constitution which isn't worth the ego drain for forcefield, and I toast like the marshmellow man. He, on the other hand, was probably using forcefield which would have helped significantly in going for a mindburst.
The other thing you have going for you is command. Does this only work on one channel? I'm going to guess probably (and probably Superstratus, right?), but otherwise there is so much fun you could have. Even with only one channel though, you can make him burn through ego and willpower fairly quickly if you make him unlock Id every round. Burst is in Sub and Fling uses Super, so you know the channel he had locked was Id. Forcefield costs about 300-350 ego to put back up, I think, so if that's what it was than it'll cost him to keep it up. (Although why you would want forcefield against a telepath eludes me).
Alternately you could try having him use a barrier, which works on Super and Id (if I remember correctly) and costs 10 power, and then PsychicPush him out of the room. I don't know exactly how barrier works since I haven't had a chance to play with all of my skills yet, but I would imagine throwing him out of the room should drop the barrier. Or you could sip anatine and PsychicPush yourself out of the room.
If you can catch him with all his channels on balance, there's always giving him shovel and making him dig. Or debating you. In Aetolia you could make someone attack himself without having clumsiness. If you can do that here just have him throatlock himself, or burst himself.
What skills do you have that work at a range? And what other afflictions do you have to work with? And what exactly does AmplifyPhobia do besides make them run around even more?
Anyway, like I said, these are just ideas I had for some of the fun things telepaths have. I'm not sure what else you can work for besides an ego kill, so I don't know what other goals you might have.

So that's how telepathy looks on the sending end. Interesting. It seems Flacarealah's making extremely good progress too.

Geez, you're a guide to know such basic things. N00bcaek.

TIME. The weave is at 00:00.
Unknown2006-06-20 15:23:46
Hmm, I just realized that forcefield gives a message to everyone else in the room as well. So he wasn't using it, and probably had biofeedback against either cold or fire.
Forren2006-06-21 07:58:14
Nope, I was tripping and throatlocking. All of my channels were being used. The stunning was trip. I don't lock any channels during PvP unless I'm using daggers.
ferlas2006-06-22 20:17:50
You could pratically make it so you automatically did all the attacks as soon as you recieved psi balance as a mage, pretty much everything is fairly simple or you can just make a few big large macros that you can flick between that will cast illusions and perform psi powers for the next 10 or so seconds is which I have.
