What's up everyone.
So I made a little Paladin. And was wondering...he has forging as his trade skill but I want to know what the best ones are for making gold. I know some good quests once I'm strong enough to be able to do them to make gold and was thinking that if I could trans a trade skill and use it to make gold it would make getting gold for credits easier and make transing skills easier.
Tell me what you think and know. Appreciate all the advice.

Forging is uber tedious and not good for turning a profit. If you're just looking to make gold I suggest focusing on your guild skills so you can bash better or picking a tradeskill like herbs.

I'm kind of looking for something that is both useful and turns a profit.

Herbs are always in demand, but you need lowmagic to take it. If you have highmagic you can take enchanting, which I think is also in demand allot, but I think there's a whole bunch of them, so I'm not shure.

If you want lowmagic, then I suggest herbs or poisons.
If you don't care or want highmagic, I suggest forging-- fullplate (trans forging) is definately worth it in the long run, even though it might take you a long tim to get it.
That said, questing is probably your best bet for gold until you can hunt things such as gorgogs.

Warriors can't learn enchantment, highmagic or not.

Herbs, alchemy and enchantment seem to be the most popular trade skills in my experience, with tailoring and cooking and jewelry coming up after them. Forging is unique as its trade's masters spend ages trying to reforge and rereforge the perfect weapons, which they then sell to other warriors. Herbs is unique in that a huge amount of your time will go into replanting the herbs and guarding them, if you can the skill, to save them for the next year’s crop.
The skill of herbs, alchemy, enchantment, poisons and, forging are the trade skills that require certain prerequisite skills, the others can be taken by anyone.
In all honesty, even if you pick a top of the line trade skill, trans it, get the artifact associated with it, and get a large amount of customers, you’ll only be matching what type of gold you can get hunting or questing. Because of that a lot of people just pick the skills for what combat benefits they get, Ixion already mentioned Fullplate as being one of those benefits, and view their trade as an ability to help out in their nation.

I think for any tradeskill you really have to network, let people know that you can do it, and you really have to learn high in it to become well known for it. I think forging is one of those less sales but more profit with a sale trades.

So questing still pulls bigger amounts of gold then trade skills do.
Alright then, I'm stickign with Forging for the personal uses and going to learn as many quests as I can. Thanks all for the help.

I tried taking the advice in your signature, once, and it didn't work. I was arrested for indecent exposure.

One of the things you'd want to do before dying is flash someone? Talk about over-achieving.

More like flashing everyone.
