Shield. I have to evoke void. You shield again. I can't do anything if you start doing that.
You do an insane amount of damage as a warrior. I can't tank your damage at all, especially if you use omen. And yes, I'm parrying/stancing.
Your parry/stance has a ways to go before I would be confident in it.
You can do psionics through shield, are you kidding me? I know you know that. Let's not have selective memory all of the sudden Forren.
Shamarah2006-06-27 20:27:19
Parry/stance doesn't do a lot against a damage warrior anyway because it doesn't actually matter WHERE they hit, so you're not selectively defending bodyparts that are high on wounds. Anywhere they hit will do the same amount of damage (exception: some bodyparts are slightly modified by shield stats) so they can really just pick a random part to hit and chances are you won't be parrying it. As opposed to wounding warriors, where you can guess what afflictions they're going for and change your parry/stance to respond to that.
Daganev2006-06-27 20:30:10
damage warriors... ha!
Shamarah2006-06-27 20:41:43
Ixion killing pre-reincarnation me in 2 combos is hardly a "ha".
Unknown2006-06-27 20:49:27
Ixion omen slashed me when we were testing after an arena spar for 3417 to 1024.
Daganev2006-06-27 21:04:42
200 damage flails/ 19str, I'm lucky if I do 1500 to someone in a combo...
So besides ixion? who is able to do 1.9K+ damage? (and besides mages)

Since the buff changes, +1 con yellow and +1 con fete will give me +1 con. So with fete and Life blessing, I have 3410 health. Tosha is 25%? That's 4262. Yes, I'm so tanky, 6k is easy for non-warriors. I must be missing something.

You do realize the only extra health warriors get are from Weathering (+1) and Surge (which was nerfed, and high con raises usually have low int anyway)
So, against someone that causes massive bleeding or has a mana kill, Ixion is only going to have 1 more weight of con than anybody else.. all his other health will be coming from everything you have available to you.
If he has a higher base con, that isn't because he's a warrior, its because he picked a race with high con.
Shamarah2006-06-27 22:04:36
Tosha is 20%.

Which are never appropriate race choices for mages.

I dunno about that.
Aquamancers Psionicists an go for DeepFreeze, or whatever, without needing to worry about Int. A Telepath especially. Strip their Fire, Dominate to empty/bury/hand you their Fire vials. Whirl pool to keep them in the room while you work on freezing them. No int needed for that. No int needed for Mindburst or Heartburst either. No int needed for runes. Slightly needed for Dreamweaving, just because of the willpower drain.
Geomancers are in a similar position.
Hartstone have a strength-based power attack, and even high int druids need to use sap anyway, so that's not really a big deal.
Blacktalon are in the same boat, except without the str-based attack.
Daganev2006-06-27 22:42:20
actually ur'guard have quite a bit of extra tankiness for themselves.
but its at a high cost of being extra low on mana.
Surge, Cannabalize, weathering (crow gets beef to health also I think, and so do paladins.)

The aquamancer instakill blows, Fallen. Requires them to be frozen, below 1/2 health, and in your demesne.

Yeah. And its never going to happen with low int. I rarely managed it with mactans daggers and 20 int in my demesne with icefloe.
You could do a Tae'dae psionicist for combat or something, but I wouldn't really recommend it. Bashing would suck.

And I just described how its possible to do that to someone?
Telepaths can strip Fire and force to empty fire vials, while an Aquademesne freezes. According to the thread I started, most people seem to only carry 2-3 fire vials. Once you get someone frozen, and locked in a whirlpool, without fire vials.. they're probably not in too great of shape. Double up with Mindblast and Amnesia(or stupidity, or paralysis, or whatever), and they'll either hit half health or half ego, at which point you use the appropriate kill.
Its obviously not "that simple" but its a strategy that you can work with/towards that requires zero INT.
Edit: Not only that, but can also strip waterbreahting, to add another damage source.

Dominating to empty vials is as cheesy as Dominate cannabalize mana and toadstomp.

Yup. Your guild would probably be upset with you too. And you'd be rather hated. Though I guess it would work.
Athana2006-06-27 23:48:17
You'll have great con and int as a mage if you're a high level human

Yeah..
"We're at WAR!... oh, wait, don't cost them 600 gold! How dare you!"
Yeesh..
"Kill them, cost them hours worth of experience, but leave the vials alone."
That's rather sad.
