If this is like other realms, selfishness stops you from emptying vials.

But Dominate has a chance of stripping Selfishness (or at least bypassing it).

It doesn't we were talking about it on Bellator one night and then Alger decided it would be good to test. After his scream we realized it went through selfish.... I think Murphy was there he can verify... something about dominate empty antidote, dominate eat crotamine laced cake or the like.
Unknown2006-06-28 00:04:18
Why is emptying vials so evil? I mean.. fire vials are like.. 250 a piece? so.. 500 gold for most people? How is that "griefing" by any stretch of the imagination?
Sylphas2006-06-28 00:06:04
It's not. I make more money bashing back lost exp to dying than it takes to refill my vials. Dilute was griefing because it hit ALL your vials, and some people carry around hundreds of them. Force emptying is kind of cheap, but not griefing by any stretch.

It shouldn't. They should have to force you to turn it off like everyone else.
I tested emptying vials with selfishness, and it worked so I bugged it.

Didn't say it was griefing, said it was cheesy. If you have to do that to win a fight you shouldn't fight. And Acrune stated that his guild would be pissed if someone in his guild did it. I was also told back when Murphy was a geomancer he said if anyone in the Geo's did it they would have been GDF and CDF'd for it. So it isn't griefing an as much as it is a cheap dishonorable way to win a fight.
Sylphas2006-06-28 00:10:33
Since when are the Geomancers (hallmark: insanity) an honourable god damn guild? Not everyone is a knight in shining armor.

Why? Nihilist Dominate bypasses it. So does Telepaths. Dominate, as the name implies, subdues the victims will and enforces the users. Obviously, anything they're doing is not what they would normally do.. so why should Selfishness drop it?
And if they had to do that, Dominate would be completely useless, because you could never outpace someone in them putting it back up.
Its not even a 100% chance. Yrael said it was less than a 50% chance to shut down Selfishness. I think that's more than fair, considering you are DOMINATING them.
As for the rest of it.. why is it cheesy? That's like saying you're cheesy for even having the vials in the first place. I see no reason why people look down on it--its the victim's fault if they only carry two or three fire vials. If they're so worried about it, they can buy more, and it would be far too time consuming for the Mage to manage it (since you have to be on-balance to empty vials).
People here are such ing whiners, I swear.

Lame tactics are discouraged all round, its more common sense then having to do with RP.

Why is it a lame tactic? It requires balance to empty vials. If you have enough fire vials, the mage is never going to be able to dent you, and if they're focused on just that, they're going to be off balance a lot from those failed attempts, leaving you free to beat the Nil out of them.
Give me one good reason of why it is a lame tactic, besides the fact that everyone says its lame. Dilute, I agree, was lame. Emptying one vial at a time, when the person has to be on-balance, is no lamer than using Inqusition to strip defences, or Lich to escape praying, or Omen to bypass resistences and armor, or Quicken to attack faster than your race allows.
For 's sake people.
Daganev2006-06-28 00:32:51
forceing people to sip vitae is lamer
Unknown2006-06-28 00:47:32
Lawl, I want to be able to force people to hearstop. I'd be so 1337.
Unknown2006-06-28 01:38:47
No one can give me even a single reason why its lame?
Daganev2006-06-28 01:40:08
only thing lame about it, is that its generally harder to find someone to fill a potion than it is to find mobs to kill to get levels back.. ???

I suppose its good that we have kegs of Fire for sale in every city/commune then
Edit: And can't forget that Bob sells them too.
Torak2006-06-28 03:08:07
Its lame because essentially it is the same thing as stealing it, at the same concept you have would it be alright if I went around stealing packs? I guarentee the first pack I took there would be hell raised over it. Eitherway its a matter of opinion, I know for a fact though 90% of the playerbase wouldn't do it, infact the only one with a track record for lame forces was Narsrim really.

Who are you in the Paladins Nico? I ask for spars, but a lot of times all I hear is silence. I could use some training.
But you and I have spoken before...! You sent me tells, even...
Granted, I've been around a lot lot less than I would like, recently. Mainly due to several factors. 1) I'm on vacation in thailand. 2) The internet setup at my place here is dialup. 3) We're currently doing renovations and the workers have an annoying habit of knocking out the internet for days at a time. Basically the only reliable connection I have to the basin is through trolling the forums while at work. But I'll be back in the States, and therefore, the basin, July 10th, give or take a day or two, and I'd be happy to spar whoever wants.
Oh, and along the lines of the vial emptying. Why not just make them put the vials in their pack?
