Serenwilde really needs to grow some balls.
For about a half-hour, I was sitting outside Serenwilde. There were at least 5 Serens around who periodically showed up to glance at me. A few of them sat there, with me on one side and them on the other. If they had taken everyone there and attacked me, they would have easily owned me. But... they didn't. For some reason they all decided to be afraid of a single person when there was a whole swarm of them and just sit there, occasionally pointing cudgel at me or pushing in hexes, neither of which really did anything.
Now, if I'd tried this kind of stunt outside Magnagora, I would have been owned within seconds. Probably Glomdoring too, though I'd probably have got away from Glom. But Serenwilde refused to even try and attack me.
A single lone fighter isn't going to beat five of you attacking at the same time!
This situation also happened earlier outside Shanthmark, when Forren and I were just sitting there for a while and it took them about twenty minutes to decide to attack us.
We weren't afraid, we weren't trying to kill you. We were trying to keep you out of the Wilde. Shorlen went to attack you to scare you away. You were like an annoying little pest that we just wanted out of the house.

If someone was raiding a village, and then went and stood a room outside the village's entrance, would you just go away figuring that your job was done?
Arix2006-06-29 22:13:32
So you sit outside Serenwilde just to annoy and provoke them?

Agreed, and so having a path that makes you do X amount of things that don't actually -help- the guild and gets you up to GR10 is stupid. GR1-3 advancement is needed, anything else proves you've been around and helping for an extended period of time.
Not exactly sure what you are refering to, but all the tasks that the Ebonguard have, do help the guild, and the guildmember.
Diamondais2006-06-29 22:15:09
Since people in Lusternia have the habit of coming back to life, yeah, or setting a player guard in the Village would work.
Shorlen2006-06-29 22:18:11
When someone jumps in and out of a demesne going "Ha, look at me! I'm so awesome!" I don't really see the need to do much more - they're already making themselves look like a more of idiot than I could ever could.
I only went in to attack when shamarah told me "Hey, I'm out of mana!" since Shorlen has been trying to get eternalsleep off for MONTHS now.

Yeah, seeing Shamarah acting more childish than Arix when Shamarah is supposed to be an org leader just... surprised me, IC and OOC.

Eh, I'm not too fond of just standing outside the enemy's org hoping that they come out. Didn't like it when Narsrim and co. did it, and don't like doing it in return.
Doesn't mean I like getting jumped when I'm down by Oleanvir remaking my map of the area, though.
Shamarah2006-06-29 22:52:26
Also, I was hoping one of you would come out and I'd get to fight.
Didn't happen.
Didn't happen.

What arix is known for being childish, is MUCH more childish than standing outside enemy territory...

I've generally left Lusternia, except to pop in and hunt a few things out of boredom. Whenever I create alts...the fun dies. Fast.
1. I learn, and from all my alts only two people ever bothered to TALK to me and EXPLAIN things or at least form some sort of teacher-mentor CONNECTION.
2. They just shove me out into the real world. I ask how to do something, I'm ignored. I have to find it out myself.
3. Staying IC is so freaking BORING if you do it constantly, and any friends I invite from other games to talk to generally meet the same fate as I do- leaving, or just dying out.
4. There's never any real INTERESTING things being done. Especially in Seren. Way too young to be an aide, most of the people I run into are idiotic novices who sit at Mother just doing random emotes to random people and creep the hell out of them. When I'm done questing and
....
Cat just threw up. What the ...
Anyways...done questing and hunting, I'd normally like to TALK to someone, but I have absolutely no connection with ANYONE except possibly my character's twin sister..and we're both horribly bored.
5. When you're a warrior, your skills get boring. Fast. When you're Serenguard, you use all your lessons to Master things. I've got no tradeskill.
6. I'd spar, but I get owned. Fast. Manual, too...but I suppose this point doesn't really count- I'm still learning how to even cure things.
7. CT, GT, GNT, all quiet. My two clans are guild clans only. Boring.
8. Wherever I go, there seems to be a lack of variety. It's like bashing- you only use one thing. MAYBE two or three, depending on your skills. It reminds me of..Aardwolf. And Questor and quest sitting.
Okay, done droning. Back to...doing nothing.

And then what? You would vitae, and all five people would gain suspect. You'd be free to sit outside the Serenwilde again and none of those people could touch you. I also -think- that if you then entered Serenwilde, those people could attack you without worrying about the avenger, but should you move outside/cubix out and bleed to death, you'd gain vengeance on them all.
Had I been around, I might have had a crack (and likely died). I think you need to find better hobbies. If you want to fight, fight.

I raided Celest in dreamform for the fun of it while Shamarah was being a douche
Torak2006-06-30 01:13:39
Don't really see how sitting outside enemy territory is childish, he was taunting the whole lot of you and from the sounds of it, it worked. Whenever no one was outside to fight I used to do that to delport and shanth, mind you I actually raided but either way its more to mock then anything. Also, you didn't have to get suspect, your side would of had to only move into the room and he would of ran away(which Shamarah is very - very - very good at).

I picked up suspect twice on him in the same day. Annoying, since the second time I defended someone he was attacking!
