Back to Common Grounds.

Now that's an interesting thought...
Have Serenwilde actually be the morally darker of the two forests, trying to hide all of their missteps by wiping people's memories. (and if you think about that, that sounds VERY similar to the whole false memory thing...)

Except that the guild tutors forgot willingly.

Apart from being able to pull rank on GR14s.

Pulling rank is a bitch. You've got to figure out where undersecs stand against protectors (usually depends if there is an active war), who wins security vs. secretary, and where a gr19 ex-GM fits in against all of that. Is an undersec higher ranked because he has a position, or does gr trump? It's a nightmare.

What's REALLY annoying is having been a Moondancer long before most people in the guild even thought about logging on for the first time, having been a guildmaster, and being outranked by some newb who got a lucky favor. It's only very rarely that I mind, but when it strikes, it's utterly frustrating.

Make EXTREMELY SIMPLE tasks for advancement, like the Aquamancer ones. I always liked that about the guild - it was very easy to advance if you wanted to. Then you get people involved and feeling like they're doing well.

Aqua tasks are hardcore retarded.

Edit: Extendin from that, the guildrank system itself is pretty dumb.

I'll be damned, it's Visaeris.

Have you had to contemplate it that much? It's pretty simple. Assuming the GM is a badass and knows he's really superior to the rest of them (unlike some of those hippie GM's):

GM > GA > Champ > GR19 ex-leaders (unless they blew) > Secretary (brains) > Security (OMG CHECK OUT MI SYSTEM) > Undersec > Protectors > Everyone else.

As for positions versus ranks, people with positions have more authority, but should still show the proper respect that their elders deserve.
Sylphas2006-06-29 00:18:42
I contemplate it mostly because I like thinking to myself, "I'm the highest ranked person on right now in my city/commune/guild." I never actually have a reason to act on it, it's just an ego thing.

And Shorlen, if you ever want to talk OOC about motivational tactics, things that work and things that don't...I'm good for ideas, and I really like involving the young immediately. I've had a lot of success with the Shadowdancers, and I still consider them one of the best in the basin. tongue.gif I'm glad to help out if you want the help!

Thank you for the offer - we'll see smile.gif

GM = GA = Champ, Secretary = Security, Undersec = Protector.

They are all the same, they just have different spheres of control.

The GM is more outwardly focused, towards the City or Commune and politics, whereas the GA is more inwardly focused on running the guild, and the Champions run Security/Defense in the Guild/Commune and various other things.

Not going to argue about Astrasia's contributions, but I've been there pretty much since the start and there's always been more than just Narsrim gathering fae, so please, don't overlook the efforts of other people who have been doing stuff.

Should have worded that better, Narsrim would gather the night fae from Glomdoring daily, because very few ever tried to do it themselves

Because back then, we had to kill them, and Narsrim was the only one who didn't see it as faeslaying.

No, he was just the only one capable of getting in there. Most of us didn't see it as faeslaying, but it was pretty much impossible for us.
Laysus2006-06-29 10:39:14
Correction - given as he was the only one with a prism/cubix thing, he was the only one who could get out afterwards. I got in myself on a couple of occasions, just died trying to get back out.

He showed Shorlen the trick to getting in, and Shorlen was more tanky than he was due to 68/70 splendor robes. Shorlen just wouldn't go in.

EDIT: I even had tosha and whatever blessings I wanted, I just sucked at fighting tongue.gif

Ah, right.

Well, it still didn't apply to the rest of us. Even Lisaera, if you remember.

Whenever I log onto my Hartstone alt, Serenwilde always seems...flat, dead, bleh. I mean...I should get out of novicehood and then maybe it'll feel a little more lively...but in Glom I always sort of had something to do. Hunt essence, or make food or something. Serenwilde just doesn't give a damn.

Even though i said this awhile ago, I forgot that I had done this. I did have interesting times on my alt. And that was when I ran into the Glomdoring to find the starving deer to bring 'em back to the Wilde...It was scary...

In all the guilds I've been active in, GR10 is unheard of, for the most part. GR3 is a 'full member', GR5 is big-time, GR6-8 means you're ancient. Anything else is silly.
Agreed, and so having a path that makes you do X amount of things that don't actually -help- the guild and gets you up to GR10 is stupid. GR1-3 advancement is needed, anything else proves you've been around and helping for an extended period of time.
Shamarah2006-06-29 22:03:44
Serenwilde really needs to grow some balls.

For about a half-hour, I was sitting outside Serenwilde. There were at least 5 Serens around who periodically showed up to glance at me. A few of them sat there, with me on one side and them on the other. If they had taken everyone there and attacked me, they would have easily owned me. But... they didn't. For some reason they all decided to be afraid of a single person when there was a whole swarm of them and just sit there, occasionally pointing cudgel at me or pushing in hexes, neither of which really did anything.

Now, if I'd tried this kind of stunt outside Magnagora, I would have been owned within seconds. Probably Glomdoring too, though I'd probably have got away from Glom. But Serenwilde refused to even try and attack me.

A single lone fighter isn't going to beat five of you attacking at the same time!

This situation also happened earlier outside Shanthmark, when Forren and I were just sitting there for a while and it took them about twenty minutes to decide to attack us.
