Sonic the Hedgehog. I was totally into that game back in the day, I had like all of them, even Sonic Pinball

I don't get it what people like in FF IV. I found the plot very cliche, most characters were either annoying or useless (exceptions: Kain, Cid, Edge), and random combats were really awful.

I always found that too. The TRUE classics from that era (CT, SD3, Earthbound, Phantasy Star 4) I can still appreciate, but that one I just don't get.

Diablo 1 was my first real love, if I remember correctly. I'd played many games before, but no had me obsessed like that did.

SimAnt. censor.gif yeah, you know what I'm talkin' about. ohyeah.gif

Secret of Mana had me sneaking out of bed in the middle of the night, covering my door with a blanket so light didn't shine through, and playing until all hours of the night.

Damn, yeah, I played that on a ROM a few years later.

Oh and SimTower! Although that one sucked. dry.gif

laugh.gif I never knew other people did that. I ought to go back and try to beat that since the dragon creamed me when I was younger.

Super Mario 3.

Oh, and SimCity.
Unknown2006-06-29 10:05:41
HoM&M 2 (on hot seat)
Fallout 2
FF7
Unknown2006-06-29 11:46:14
Agreed with Kashim. Ah, good days of HoMM when I managed to get Cyclopi on first week (Squirrels' Lake map).
Also, Planescape Torment.

But I still stand by FF VII. As I said - some people might not consider it the best game ever. But they HAVE to admit, that no other game (at least since I grew interested in the whole industry, and it happened exactly when Warcraft was new - Warcraft ONE) was such a success, both commercial and for the critics, and no other game in its time was so sophisticated and had such a deep plot. Extra points for the one which had a largest influence on me, even before I played it.
Shiri2006-06-29 11:53:18
HoM3, now that was a classic too. But you have to admit it wasn't exactly a major impact type thing like Starcraft or FFVII.

Hmm.... Fallout 2. Sanitarium. The older Kings Quest games. Strider. Although when I was 6 that game was incredibly hard. Metroid.

I also stayed up all night playing SimCity 2000. When I had filled the entire map and still had several billion dollars I got bored.

Mana Beast is impossible to beat if you don't realize that they BOTH have to cast Mana Magic on you. doh.gif Took me forever to figure that out.

What the hell is Sanitarium? I tried to play that but it wouldn't work on my PC for some reason.
Unknown2006-06-29 12:52:01
It's a Horror/Adventure game. It's about a man who wakes up in a...*drumroll*...sanitarium. He spends the rest of the game remembering who he is and why he's there, as well as random (but related) things about his past.

It's really good, in my opinion. It's a lovely job of setting the mood for each level. But then, I am a sucker for any old style Adventure games.

I think I remember reading something about it not working properly on XP. I think there's a patch for it somewhere, or at least instructions to make it work. I just played it on my 266MHz Win98 machine. Between that and packet spoofing/Soft Ice, that's all you can really do with it.

Oh yes, and you can't forget about the Worms games. And more recently Advance Wars.
Shiri2006-06-29 12:54:36
Worms, I did forget about them.

But I shouldn't have.
