Just going to dump ideas here while I watch my lecturer teach everybody else.
FIRST IDEA:
likes and dislikes:
basically the more you intake of something the more you'll be inclined to liking that particular thing.
So lets say food: the more you eat a certain type of food the more you will be inclined to that type of food. For simplicity sake the food would be distributed into general tastes (ie sweet, sour, bitter, chilli, bland, etc) and every time you eat a food group the more you'll like that kind of food group. Then to make it more interesting we could have opposite food groups like the more you eat sweet stuff the more you'll like sweet stuff and the less you'll like sour things.
Effects: The food will have more(or less) impact on your hunger level. On an extreme level a very inclined food group will throw you into satiated right away and a not inclined will make you throw up.
also it can extend to other things like odors.
For example fetid manure smell. The more you stay in an area and so the more you're exposed to the type of smell the more you'll get accustomed to that type of smell.
Effects: The smell message changes. i.e. instead of smelling fetid manure you'll start smelling fragrant manure heh... or if you're not accustomed to it you'll not like the spell. This way each organization will have different preferences when it comes to smell
SECOND IDEA!:
sleeping guards...
first of all make guards weaker but also make them way cheaper. Then cities and communes can hire more of them.
Guards will have a fatigue level. Meaning the longer they stay on duty the weaker they become. Then there will be an option of setting the shifts of the guards. Meaning a guard will only stay on duty a certain number of hours a day. Then a replacement guard can replace him if set to guard during that shift. This way there are actual shift changing for guards. Also you can set it so that fatigue level goes down faster at night, which may in effect lessen the amount of guards at night because well they're all sleeping!
okay class over I'll finish this later

Cute ideas!

Those are really interesting ideas.

I don't like the food idea, because I personally always bought the same item from a shop back when I ate, and I suspect I'm not the only one. That'd be a big hit on business for chefs. The smell thing would be a neat touch, and the guards would be interesting.

I would think that the more you eat a food, the more you need to have that food to be satiated.
I know that when it comes to pizza, I need a pie, instead of just a slice, but when it comes to that holiday meatloaf, after one piece I say "umm I'm fine, thanks!"

First idea: cute, but easy to RP. Your character just buys what they like most.
Second idea: guards are creations of the nexus' power, they don't have to sleep like normal beings. Also it either cripples the defense or creates a huge power sink. Cubie not like.

All Magnagora eats is reeking carrion, so I'll just have Celest strew Celestia with cake and scented candles. INSTANT VICTORY!

I eat char-grilled salmon platters that have been fortified for instant satiation. that, or herofete food

Nice ideas thatd be fun for roleplay in the cities and communes.

I think it would help chef's out. People wont buy the cheapest foods. This in turn will give Chef's a larger role too with preparing a huge variety of food that won't be wasted in the shops since people cannot stick to just one type of food.
The guards sleeping probably won't happen but would still be nice to see if you empower them they may stay on duty longer, possibly gain you more esteem too
