On my usual passing through the various IRE forums - I happened to find that the Administrators of Imperian were holding a Town Hall meeting. After reviewing the happenences, I decided to show Elryn who in this yelled at me to post it here. happy.gif

The basic gist was that the Admin gave several players who attended the meeting, I would at least say a good 15 people - although I didn't really count, a chance to question about the current things pertaining to the game. Everything from roleplaying events to mechanics.

I personally think this would be something neat we could do - granted, I would understand that they would happen at times way spread apart, but what it does is help the players and gods get on the same wavelength about things.

Any opinions?

I so did not yell. All lies.

That would work for us! We could then just all get along and decide about important issues pertaining our gameplay and enjoyment.

...Almost said that with a straight face. ALMOST.

I don't think that meeting was about the players getting along. It was player-admin communication, not player-player.

I wonder how well that could actually work out. It seems like it would probably just be a rehashing of what people post here, and what people talk about all the time.

Not exactly, Veonira. It would require the divine hosting it to give some sort of answer (even if its an "I can't answer that"). Otherwise they lose face. On a forum you can choose not to respond or read something and nobody will be the wiser. I think this would lead to a more informative and controlled Q+A, which is something you don't really get too often on here.
Sylphas2006-07-02 06:13:27
And they rarely read the forums. Realtime conversations express a lot, too.

The -concept- of it certainly seems solid, but in practicality and based upon what I see here every day on the forums, the possibility of it coming out successfully is a bit.. less than amazing.

True, there are a ton of questions we'd like to ask the Admin of the game, and yeah, a lot of these we -do- ask them, here on the forums... Yeah, having it happen IG would force more response, as well as allow others who don't have forum accounts to get involved in things, but once again, is it really something we players can successfully do? I'd like to think we're all mature enough to stand in one spot, cease the crazy spam, and have an intelligent discussion relating to the issues of our favorite game without getting so steamed we suicide or resort to just reaming on eachother... but then again, I know better. Who can say? It's really up to the Admin in the end.
Sylphas2006-07-02 06:15:48
Did you read the log? Imperian did it well. Peace and silence the room, and we don't have nearly as much room spam with defenses as other realms do (no mass, for one). It'd just involve good questions. You don't have a good questions, stfu and move we move on to the next guy.
Shamarah2006-07-02 12:32:59
I like it. We should do something like that.
Veonira2006-07-02 14:49:34
To be honest I hadn't looked at the log, I was too fixated on Verithrax's post xD.

I think it's worth a try, at least to make sure the Admins know what everyone really wants.
Unknown2006-07-02 15:00:50
I think it would be great. There's a limit to what an envoy can remember, and it's kind of unreliable to rely on only a dozen people across the realm to tell the gods EVERYTHING you want. And tthe envoy won't misunderstand or anything, because they aren't there.
Veonira2006-07-02 15:08:54
Well, to be honest, I'd hope that the town meeting wouldn't be another envoy summit, and we could at least start out by trying to talk about things that aren't related to balancing skills, etc.
Unknown2006-07-02 15:16:17
Um... That was kind of my point. You can't tell an envoy EVERYTHING you want done, because it's not their field. The gods ask the players dirctly anything and everything they want changed.

Another thing: They should create a special room especially for it, and you can JOIN DISCUSSION to go there. Because anywhere else, there's the chance of someone stumbling in and disturbing everything.
Daganev2006-07-02 15:32:23
I don't know what exactly everyone is refering to, but I suspect, asking the Admin for a town meeting will not get you what you are expecting. Something like that has to come from the Admin, when they have time, and feel a need for it.

If you think its needed, I suggest writing a nicely worded email, or get a respectfull conversation on the forums.
Unknown2006-07-02 16:04:37
..isn't that what this is?
Daganev2006-07-02 16:10:21
No, because nobody is saying anything, only that they want to talk, but not what they want to talk about.

should it matter? If the playerbase would like to talk.. I think that should be enough.

I must not have been clear...

I'm saying, if you want to talk, start the dialogue, don't wait for someone else to do it.
