I am surprised nobody has hit on the vindictive woman aspect of this yet. Some girl gets PO'd at her boyfriend puts this thing on, and bam instant revenge. Guys beware, you could be the next one caught in a bear trap.

I think it's just someold woman who probably got raped some time in her life and is attempting, quite badly, I must say, to stop it happening again. Thing is, will it disable the rapists nether regions permanently? it's certainly leave a few scars. And sure if he is castrated he probably deserves it, but with that many rapists out there having their dingdongs deactivated, the population will reach bedrock in a decade or two.

It was partly sarcasm, partly serious. If there's a 2mil rape record, a good amount of those women are gonna get pregnant, and a large number of those might not want to get an abortion, so there will be a lot more babies.

It's sarcasm with a scrap of reason behind it.

Also, I don't think rapists have that much effect on population at all. Even if they did, our population needs to grow more slowly anyhow, woohoo.

I think the idea behind this is great, I just don't think it can be used practically. In addition, I read another article about this that discussed how gang rape is prevalent in South Africa is well, and this wouldn't save the girl there either, it would probably just piss them off and she'd still be raped.

The solution is, quite obviously, forcefields.

That, or sugically implanted electrodes in every orifice of the woman's body.

Or, basic self-defense training... that usually does the trick, I mean, guy's aren't that hard to take down, and most of them don't know any sort of martial art. I bet it'd be cheaper than this too, heh.


Edit: Another good deterrant to rape would be an improvement in the Court system. The whole idea of a jury is unendingly flawed. In Highschool I had to do a mock-trial of a rape case. I ended up being the prosecuter, and I actually got the guy to admit that he raped the girl by using the definition of rape and having him agree that he did things under certain circumstances. The "jury" still found him innocent, and basically blamed the girl. And the jury was half-and-half, 6 guys and 6 girls, and it took them almost no time to come to the decision.

I lost all faith in "justice" that day, because its those sort of people that are going to end up on a real jury.

I think it's hard for us to really review this item, as I don't think any of us have ever lived in South Africa.

It is estimated that one rape occurs every 20-30 seconds in South Africa, while in the US it's every two and a half minutes someone is raped. That doesn't sound like a huge of a difference like that, but if you calculate it out, that's comparing over a million rapes per year in South Africa to a little over 200,000 in America.

Wow, that's actually really scary. And babies being raped there isn't exactly out of the ordinary either. . What kind of sicko does that. They deserve to have their penis ripped off and force fed to them.

Because, obviously, condoms stop rape?

And guess what, I don't care about the Republic of South Africa, however, I wasn't referring to the the country anyway, but more the geographic area and the numerous countries in it.
