Since I've gotten no in-game response to it...

Subj: Laws for the Hall of Justice
Hmm.
I've been wondering something. I've recently visited the Hall of
Justice, and I noticed that we are the only community who has made their
laws available on the pillars.
Don't ye think that is important? I mean, novices, citizens, merchants,
and traders might want to know just what to expect when they visit ye
nations. Something tells me The Nine would not look highly upon
communities who ignore the importance of the pillars.
I hope this gets rectified in the future.
Somehow, I'd at least think the other communities would post their laws on their own pillars. Why is Magnagora the only one to do so.

I've been bugging Celest to do it, to no avail. But I wouldn't expect any more from Celest.
Alger2006-07-08 22:18:47
It is because only our rules matter Phred, mhm...
Shamarah2006-07-08 22:29:53
We couldn't figure out how to write on them.
Vix2006-07-08 22:41:35
You put them on a letter and put it in (or is it on?) the pillar. A council member has to do it.

Because one day, a long time ago, an Ur'guard had a bowel movement at the Pillars. Since that day, Magnagora has defended them with their lives because they are linked with the Ur'guard. Needless to say, Celest hasn't been able to write their laws on them yet because of the superior might of Magnagora.
Unknown2006-07-08 22:49:35
Hmmmm, I'm going to make sure that gets done. I wasn't even aware of it. I think I'll write it out on a letter for a council member and just mail it to them.

The GM of the Celestines enemies people to Celest, the Celestines and Terentia for bashing merians.
So kindly break your fingers, Raury-pie, and don't make any more attempts at satire; you're too thick to carry 'em off.

Oh, and I think you need to put 1000 gold in the pillar too.
Viravain2006-07-08 23:13:07
A city leader, or Patron, if *absolutely* needed, can do it. Just put 1000 gold in the pillar, as well as a letter scripted with what you want to be written on the pillar.

You know, I never understood that.
Celest, fine. Celestines enemy all enemies of Celest, so that's automatic. But Terentia? That's just strange. I got enemied to Terentia for foresting Southgard to draw attention to myself. I mean...seriously.

I've been TRYING to have our laws' final revision done so we can put it in there, don't worry. Maybe I'll just go ahead and put whatever the hell I want on it.

Enemies to Celest are enemies of Terentia so that Her shrine powers can hit them. Whirlpools, currents, and spring traps aren't enough to protect Celestia.
Sylphas2006-07-09 03:50:58
Enemying people for killing merians is like having city police arrest you for kicking someone's dog in the next state, because your city happens to have lots of dogs in it.

Here's what I don't get. Why aren't there books on the laws in the libraries? Yes, I know CHELPs are used to alert citizens of the laws, but it still seemed weird to me that I was browsing through the library and the only thing I found was Magnagoran. Especially if you want other people to observe the laws when they're in the city/commune, you would think you'd write them down SOMEWHERE. And a book or scroll, while perhaps more costly than the Pillars, is more easily accessible.
Not important, but it's one of the little things that nags me.

I agree. One of my early Nihilists was enemied for walking through Celest with his imp, but I had no way of knowing they had laws forbidding that until it was too late.
Unknown2006-07-09 04:35:59
Anyone fill me in? What's is this suppose to do?
Unknown2006-07-09 04:42:41
It's accessed via the room of the Seal of Justice. There is a pillar upon which each org may display its laws for public knowledge.
Shorlen2006-07-09 05:17:58
We have our laws on a tree. It's a very nice tree. Anyone can read the tree, but chances are that by reading the tree, they have already broken several of our laws.
Have a nice day.
