And the tree boils down to, approximately ...

QUOTE
Serenwilde rules -- Tsuki's short-short version:

1. Don't censor.gif with the forest, its inhabitants, its Divine (and all trappings thereof), or the areas loyal to the forest and inhabitants of them. And as much as they irritate us, don't censor.gif with the residents of Faethorn either.
2. If someone tells you to leave, get the censor.gif out.
3. Enemies are not welcome and will not be traded with.
4. Leave the shadowbound fae, totemic crows, imps, angels, and necromatically undead mounts elsewhere.
5. If you have a problem, concern, question, or complaint, contact the Moonhart Circle (anything from a single to multiple members of it).
6. If you're a Seren, abide by these rules and any other arrangements made by the Moonhart Circle.

Edit: The only one of those that might not be expected by simple common sense ("common sense" ... wait while I laugh at myself for assuming/hoping people have that) is #4. And if someone violates it, they typically get a warning and told to comply with the rules rather than being slapped with an immediate enemy status.

Enemying people for killing merians is like having city police arrest you for kicking someone's dog in the next state, because your city happens to have lots of dogs in it.

laugh.gif I like that

Yeah, my post here was really just a joke, and it amused me smile.gif

Since NMBG to the gloms I doubt they feel a need to post on their pillar, or it could be revision delays like we have.

I couldn't tell if it was serious or not (I've not been playing long and my char has never been to Seren), but I was mostly kidding in reply. wink.gif It's hard to convey tone with text, but that's what the snicker was for. biggrin.gif

Prolly they just don't care. I mean, here's a paraphrasing of the pertinent rules as they apply to non-Gloms (particularly Serenwilde and Celest):

1. We don't care about you...unless you do something first, we don't even care enough to bother disliking you.
2. No, really.
3. Don't kill our guards or loyals. Don't kill fae. Don't kill the forest critters. On second thought, just don't come in here at all. And by "here" we mean the entire forest.
4. We don't want to trade with you, so quit asking.

The IC stance of the Glomdoring = Our laws are none of your business.

And it's fairly common knowledge to stay out of the forest. We ARE nice to the novices who show up, contrary to popular belief, but yeah, don't hold your breath on seeing Glom's laws anywhere in public.

You'd be surprised how uncommon 'common knowledge' can be. Even something that is taken for granted in one group can be completely unknown in another, which seems to be the reason the pillers were made in the first place.
Shorlen2006-07-09 21:41:34
Glomdoring should post their laws there. The pillar should read:

"Stay out of Glomdoring."

and nothing else.

Aye even the most secretive of places has a do not enter sign. I really don't understand this stance in Glomdoring. I can understand things like internal laws about shop keeping and elections and things but general things about not entering if you aren't Glomdoring.

Some people might not know that and people are usually surprised that common knowledge isn't always common knowledge.

Well the only problem with that is- how common knowledge are the Pillars? I mean, I didn't know about them until I saw that public post. Cities don't seem to tell their members about them. I haven't seen any help files mention the pillars. Are the people who wouldn't have heard yet that Glomdoring is extremely unsociable going to know to look at the Pillars anyway?
Unknown2006-07-09 23:07:06
Well, when the Hall of Justice first appeared, all the communities knew about it and Magnagora did it I think within the week it appeared. I'm really surprised it wasn't considered important enough for the other communities to do.
Shiri2006-07-10 01:16:07
Most people don't know about the pillars at all, yeah.

In fact I'm not even 100% sure I know where they ARE...
Unknown2006-07-10 05:51:07
wait a second

If you can't enter Glomdoring how exactly does Non-OOC and Non-Newbie intro induction works? How can you enter glomdoring to learn about how it is and eventually joining?

It's asinine.

You people DON'T WANDER AVECHNA'S PEAK?

It's in the STairs(path?) of Justice!!!

And I know about the pillars because I like to.. say, explore?

And from the top of my head I can tell you what there is in the Avechna's peak without consideration of Avechna, the God Fulcruxes and the caves

The artie shop in Enigmatic stairs
The Portal in the Harmony path
The Tournies in War path
The Aetheplex in the Avechna's stairs
The Library in the Teacher path
The Hall of records in the Teacher's path
The Fun Bob's Pants..err.. shop in Teacher's path
I think there was a clan hall or something in teacher's path also

And that's all I can remember and I think it covers it all
Sylphas2006-07-10 05:51:43
In that case, you could probably ask. Just be like "Hey guys, nothing seems to matter anymore except Glomdoring. Mind if stop by, hang out for a bit?"

OMG.

You mean people have to actually TALK TO A LEADER OF GLOMDORING TO GET IN?

The horror!

You'd be surprised how well tells work, Corinthian. As I said before, we're actually very very nice to novices, depsite what popular opinion will have you believe. It's not really an issue.

I'm not talking about the novices... you people take care of the youngings and I like that.. but

What about a 50th circle 30 year old ex-Paladin Aslaran?

Exactly how one can know about Glomdoring to join in without, let's say, walking around asking for information about it personally?

I mean, people would go blindly without knowing anything but what the Other commune and the cities tell them?
