IN my personal opinion, the monkey was the best part of the movie.
I want an undead monkey. =p
Amen to that.
I thought it was a decent movie. I enjoyed the first one more. I felt that, like in many other sequels, they were relying on (perhaps not as much as other movies) special effects to 'wow' the audience. I was dejected to discover the movie seemed to be a teaser for the third one.

I didn't see it yet, but let's have this lil' question, formulated in a way which won't cause any spoilers in answers:
Compared to the first movie, how was it? Better, worse? 'Cuz I liked the first one, I did.

It wasn't as good as the original.

I loved it.

It was very good, but two things annoyed me:
1) The story ended too unresolved. I don't mind a teaser for the next movie, like X-Men 3 had, but at least resolve the main conflicts at hand. This one barely resolved any of the main plot issues.
2) I waited through all the credits to see the extra scene at the end, and it was so not worth waiting for. Though I'm not going to spoil what it is because now you will be curious and be forced to sit through the credits to see what I'm talking about. Muhahaha!!

I wondered if there was one! Thought there might've been, but after sitting in place for ... two and a half hours(?), in a crowded/overheating theatre, creeping up on 3am ... I had several reasons to want to just move/leave rather than wait and see.
Good to know that there is one. And that it wasn't worth waiting for, so I can wait until the dvd or something to see it (with patience, minor curiosity can wait to be satisfied).

I thought it was good, but not good enough to have broken all those records...
and I missed the extra scene... even if it wasn't good enough to wait, I'm sorry I missed it

I'm a huge fan of the first one, and I absolutely loved this one.
I also think that, because of the huuuge scope of the story, it would have done certain aspects an injustice to condense them.
Maybe you have to be 'savvy' on the history of what is going on in this period to appreciate it though..
Anyway, it just reminded me of Fellowship of the Ring, because that one had the same gaping ending, so I wasn't really disapointed by the fact that almost every single plot thread was left hanging... but maybe that's also because I'm not viewing it as two seperate stories, but one that had to be split.
The humor was great, the action sequences were fantastically done, and I was really surprised by the depth of the story and characters. Elizabeth really shows her colors, and Norrington is an incredibly interesting character as well. And of course there's Jack, who never ceases to draw your interest. Not to forget Davey Jones, who was also played amazingly.
I dunno.. I just really enjoyed everything about it, and I wouldn't have wanted them to cut anything out.. so I'm more then content with getting 2 seperate movies each 2 and a half hours long, over a single 3 hour movie.

Ditto. And I had to put up with wanna-be critics in the audience blabbing about how stupid the names of companies on the credits were like Asylum and how "they were probably formed by Lucas Arts rejects". Wtf? -smack-
Some people just deserve a roundhouse to the skull....
The movie was awesome and I liked it better than the first actually. While I didn't get to see Kiera in a corset as much as I'd have liked (-pout-), Davey Jones was awesome as all hell -squeal-

it was good, I slept through it the second time. HATED the monkey, HATED the ending, but loved everything up to it.
Abethor2006-07-22 18:05:48
I liked it for the most part, just I didn't like that at the end the heart wasn't stabbed. I just wanted them to stab the heart! One of my favorite parts about it though was Jones' crew. The barnacles and fish-like attributes were a great touch. It left me hanging and now I can't wait to see the next one......which will be a while.
I missed the scene after the credits too, which I regret. -sigh-

I heard a lot of bad things about it strangely. Just saw it myself, I thought it was even better than the first one. Davy Jones was awesome.
Shakaya2006-07-23 14:55:48
Friends dragged me out of the theatre the second time when I wanted to watch through to the end of the credits.
Diamondais2006-07-23 15:15:25
Saw it last night, loved it. Did NOT like the ending. Didnt see the credit part. Forgot about it. Cannot wait for Worlds End
Shakaya2006-07-23 15:50:53
At least we only have to wait a year for World's End, as compared to three years for Dead Man's Chest.
I should mention, I loved it. I loved all the little in-jokes from the first one. Like the rum. And the seaturtles. And all those little things. Just loved it. Ending was unfair, but I suppose they wanted to make sure you realised CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow couldn't REALLY be dead for good.

The lil quirky 'in' jokes were definately amusing and made the movie that much better.
Davy Jones and Tia Dalma, the voodoo chick, were my favorites of the movie. Bill Nighy is just so damn cool -skip-. Excited about the third movie and Geoffrey being back in it.
Chow Yun-Fat will be there too -cackle-
