Why are credits so insanely priced even oocly? it should be like 10 cents a credit flat rate. so 10 credits for $1. then you'd get much more people buying larger quantities and make more money.. cuz really.. for 2k credits.. who would spend nearly $600 on a game? i dont even have that much in my bank account! thats like focused on extremely rich people and so unfair. *flop*
Emmy2006-07-14 16:11:17
one more thing... when it says debit card it chould mean DEBIT CARD! DEBIT cards are NOT Visa , MAstercard or Discover,. those are CREDIT cards dammit!!! unless you wierd americans use your debit cards like credit cards and call em that. its frustrating. it says debit/credit card option but it only gives you 3 kinds of CREDIT cards to use for paytment! grrr!
Unknown2006-07-14 16:11:37
Well, I've spent $80 on Lusternia, buying 100 credits twice. I know it's not as much as 2k, but still. And yeah, it should just be 10 cents per! $10 for 100 credits!
Saran2006-07-14 16:23:52
Do you realise how many high end artifacts would be floating around if that happened?

it's roughly 300ish credits per skill * 15(-1 for aethercraft) your looking at about $450 for omnitrans

pets with the 900 credit package + amnesia $120
Unknown2006-07-14 16:26:24
and debit card counts as VISA
Emmy2006-07-14 16:27:55
ah ok. heh. artis? yeah? so what? they'd make more money and the game would be so much interesting!:P
Saran2006-07-14 16:28:53

Plenty of people. Thats why they haven't changed the price... at least not since I started playing achaea, a few years ago. You can't expect IRE (a buisness, mind you, inteding to turn a profit) to lower its prices because you don't have that much money. Sorry.

they reduce the price of things people are already paying for and they make more money?

579.99 for a 2000 credit bundle for a cubix verses
200.00 for a 2000 credit bundle
So just under three cubixes to get the same ammount of money
Emmy2006-07-14 16:35:03
i dont EXPECT it. I just think thats a little far fetched and for people tos pend that much money on a game are insane. hey if they wanna target rich people go ahead. it aint fair or just but meh. and believe me a LOT of people agree with me. only the really ones who spend that much dont.. *eye oraki* yeah thats what I thought.

and debit is not a visa card!!!

i mean really how hte hell else does a place like mcdonalds make millions off of $1 burgers? CHEAP prices LOTS of customers makes a lot more than expensive prices and few customers.
Unknown2006-07-14 16:42:14
the debit card i used worked as VISA
Athana2006-07-14 16:45:02
They can't make credits super cheap because they kind of need to make money to keep the game running!...tongue.gif

Also no one is FORCED to buy credits...you don't really need a billion credits to enjoy Lusternia, plus there are a lot of ways to buy credits with in game gold, too
Unknown2006-07-14 16:48:46
IRE makes a great amount of money with credits, artifacts, auctions, etc. Say you want you character to have about 5 trans skills in Lusternia. 3 guild skills, plus + discipline and planar. Thats what it actually takes to be -somewhat- competitive in the game. So, from a purely economic standpoint, thats going to be about 1500 credits, not assuming you get any in game, (which many people do through hours and hours of tediousness, and remember for you working` folk, time = money). Take a gander at http://www.lusternia.com/credits.php and you will see what 1500 is worth in U.S change. Saran, you were way off with 450$ being omnitrans, I lol at you.

Its true IRE has a small player base, so it needs to exploit massive amounts of money out of those players to make any money. If you compare the amount of money you could spend on Lusternia compared to another online game, say Evercrack or WoW, you will spend about 120$-150$ a year on those games compared to those credit purchases -needed- to be able to compete in Lusternia.

The system has no integrity, and the game itself is highly biased toward people who feel the need to spend massive amounts of money on credits. Credits are the means to and end in this addicting game, and people will do anything to get them. Writing this post has reminded me how disappointed I am with IRE and its games. I'm depressed now. sleep.gif

More availablility of artifacts makes them less desirable. If everyone can simply get artifacts like the cubix or something they become common.
Then you get situations like orgs having a few cubixes that they can simply pass out rather than it being something that only a few people in the basin have.

Imagine GHELP CUBIXES
The following people have cubixes and are willing to let you use them should you ask
Elryn
Yini
Saran * 2 (tongue.gif)
Sarin
Kalodan
Nessa
Jitwix
Zezza
Avaleigh
Ialie * 10
Shorlen
Charune

Hmm, question:

I have a card called Maestro. It's somehow related to Mastercard, but I don't have the slightest clue what's the difference or how I can buy credits with it. Anyone got a clue about that, or do I have to try and work with something else?

You realise I was using the .10 per credit figure
Unknown2006-07-14 16:51:15
Yup, I haven't spent that much money myself. But there are people who have.

and seriously, do you want *everyone* running around with a cubix? Things aren't interesting if they are common place. If credits were so cheap, then it would actually make lusternia very bland.

And they wouldn't make more money, I would think - Cost would go down, demand would stay the same. They might make a few more sales, but not enough to make up for the money lost with each sale.

BTW, Saran, you forgot about binding credits for getting omnitrans. That would significantly reduce the already slightly less than 300 credits for each skill... If your getting artis, you can use those credits to bind as well.

Emmy, how many people eat at mcdonalds (any one mcDs locations) each day? Now, how many people are in lusternias ACTIVE playerbase? And how many times do you need to buy a cubix, as opposed to how many people eat at mcdonalds every day, or at least often?
You may think its farfetched for people to spend money on something they enjoy, but it doesn't stop it from happening. Just don't act like you know whats the best thing to do all the time, because you obviously don't.

Pretty much, it wouldn't be a good idea for them.

Actually from what I heard, McDonalds lost money from the Dollar Menu (technically lost potential money). Ever been to a McDonalds and noticed how they no longer have that panel just for the Dollar Menu? The prices are still the same now to keep people happy but they've stopped advertising it since they made more when the prices were higher.
