Autobashing

Back to Common Grounds.

Okay. I just was searching through the HELP files, when I came across HELP AUTO. It states that there is to be NO autobashing, ratting, whatever. Well, I then quickly thought up of a pretty good way to set one up, but I've not done it. I'm just wondering why autobashing is such a big deal. I mean, I can see more problems than benifits. Not really being able to escape from combat quickly, as you'd have to turn the prompt off, and such, then having to escape, which can cause precious time to be lost. But, you all probably understand this better than me.

It's lame, and it's cheating, pretty much.

You are here to -play- Lusternia, right?

Sylphas2006-07-20 15:21:15
I could set up a system to keep the Gorgog caves empty indefinitely, with no danger to myself unless I was jumped. If I was not AFK, I could kill it with a macro instantly and spore away. It WOULD be a big deal if anyone did it.

Autobashing =! Cool.
Unknown2006-07-20 15:55:13
Hmm... True. Alright, I see how it's kind of unfair to others... Grrr.

And Jesuel, that's the sweetest siggy I've ever seen!

Here's the scenario.

Person finds place where he can beat everything and noone who might stop him can get there.
Person turns autobashing on.
Person goes and has a shower, watches a movie, and comes back to the computer.
Person finds himself to be Titan.

This might be a bit exaggerated, but you see my point. Places would be permanently bashed out, and people would gethigh levels really fast, simply by walking a bit, keying in the alias, and going away.
Unknown2006-07-20 16:00:29
Heh. Alright. I see. I still wish I could do it, but, ohh well. I'll just keep using my Keybindings, which are fast, too.
Soll2006-07-20 16:15:38
The level of 'autobashing' allowed is this. Having an alias which will make you attack your current target until it's dead. You have to manually start killing, and you have to manually move.
Murphy2006-07-20 18:15:01
that's excatly what i have, turn triggers on for autobashing, kill thing till it's dead, move rooms and hit the attack key again, etc etc
Forren2006-07-20 18:22:44
Just do it the manual way! I don't even have an alias for point staff. Just hit the enter key to point staff, let your system sip, and make sure it's not hurting too badly. Pretty soon your brain automatically bashes for you, and it becomes habit. That's my autobasher.
Hazar2006-07-20 18:24:44
Only automatic thing I run is my autosipper. By leaving the rest manual, I can actually get some enjoyment out of juggling the activities.
Sylphas2006-07-20 19:42:52
I believe you can set it to automatically kill everything, as long as it doesn't automatically move.

You see, the mind-numbing boredom and meaninglessness of bashing was intended to keep people from doing it too much. Hence the auto-bashing prohibition.

Unfortunately, we underestimated some people's ability to do something dumb, repetitive and pointless for hours.

Honestly, I don't get the whole bashing-is-boring argument. Sure, it gets boring after a few hours, but so does everything else.
Unknown2006-07-21 02:34:04
I hate autobashing

F3 Swings
F7 sips health
Ctrl+F7 eats sparklies

That's all I need to bash and I enjoy bashing for an hour or so.
Sylphas2006-07-21 03:22:16
Why not F4 and F8? unsure.gif

Why not F4 and F8? unsure.gif

F4 hacks down and F8 sips mana

It's
F1 no use/can't use
F2 emergency exit (I change it to Transverse Cosmic/Ethereal/Prime/Elemental for a quick escapade)
F3 Bashing

F4 Hacking down(to behead or do other Swinging only head aflictions)
F5 Swiping (for swinging only chest aflictions)
F6 Hacking up (for swinging only gut aflictions)

F7 Siping Health (ctrl F7 eat sparkies)
F8 Siping Mana
F9 Siping bromides

F10 Shielding

F11 In
F12 Out

I always put the things I hit the most on F1, F4, F5, F8, F9, and F12, because they're much easier to hit without worrying about hitting the wrong key. I used to have Swim/Leap/Burrow/Tumble/Sprint on F1-5 to daisy chain to numpad movement. It was very cool. Lyntin I'd have to rewrite the base UI code. *sob*

I always watch (or rather, listen) to tv shows while I bash- usually tapes of reruns I've already seen. (I favor House season 1, the entire run of Cowboy Bebop, and my 10 hours of old X-men eps or 18 hours of Powerpuff Girls.)

I use F1 for bashing attack, F2 to grab corpses, F3 to use my shielding equivalent, and the alias 'dh' to sip. Writhe and stand are auto. I thought to use F4-F12 for curing macros, but Lusternia has way too freaking many cures and I'm not completely sure yet how I should set them up. I guess with ctrl-Fkey macro combos, although that makes me unhappy because it means the macro takes two hands. I'll figure something out. For now, F11 applies mending (with variables and nested if statements making sure I hit the right body part).
